To work hard! A lot of discipline and consistency. Never to give up no matter how many No’s you get. To constantly work on improving yourself both mentally and physically.
What is next for you?
I am constantly working on myself as there is still a lot I’d like to achieve as a model and as a creative director. I’ll let my actions speak for me.
I like making the music that I want to listen to. Since the voice was my first instrument, I like vocal-heavy music that has a visceral feel to it.
Tell us about your personal style.
My style seems to change a lot with my mood (I get dressed a few times a day even). But I love wearing cantilever heels and anything that draws attention

Tell us about an average day.
Is there an average day?
I’m not sure I have those haha
But typically I wake up around 8, take my vitamins, do pilates at the gym, get back home and do 30mins-1hour of warmup before writing, and then around 7 I usually meet up for dinner with my best girlfriends.
I think that’s about as close to average as I can get

What is next for you?
Currently working on getting everything together for an EP. I don’t have an exact date on it yet, but keep an eye out 😉
William Henry Rawls, he’s an independent designer and friend to me over the years. He’s made some of my most memorable looks over the years from my music video appearances to red carpet looks to editorial looks. As far as major designers, I love Calvin Klein & Ralph Lauren. They make classic timeless pieces so my closet is full of their clothes. Outside of them I really wish Olivier Rousteing at Balmain made clothes for my size! His work is amazing.
What is your favorite thing in your closet?
Currently it would be this new sweater dress I bought at Diane von Furstenburg (DVF). It’s EVERYTHING and has these amazing peekaboo cutouts in the fabric.
Tell us about The 16th season of Project Runway.
Well it was the very first time that they had models of ALL SIZES be a part of the week to week designer challenges. From size 2 to 22, they showcased various body types as well. I had the time of my life being there! To watch a show for many years but then experience it and to make history while doing it was awesome. I went on to become one of the first plus models to win the model portion of the show. Plus models don’t get many opportunities to slay the runway and I took full advantage. Each week I made the world my runway as viewers watched the show. It was a monumental season which I feel helped impact the NYFW shows for added change since.
What is the funniest thing to happen to you working as a model?
Well recently, I was shooting swimwear on the beach with Shane Suban and I dipped my hair back in the water to get it wet. I started to whip my wet hair around not realizing I never pinned my wig down and it flew off! I hope the bystanders didn’t catch it on their phones…
Tell us about your signature walk.
It’s confident, strong eye contact, nice pace, sexy sway with long strides with my signature Liris turn (half, half & spin out).
Tell us about your family.
I have the best of both my worlds. My mother is from Wilmington, North Carolina so I got those southern roots on her side. My dad is from Grenada, so I have the West Indian roots on his. My parents are retired pastors who also held government jobs. My dad, St. George Crosse, was a trailblazer in politics and in media culture back in Baltimore. I have one sibling, my older sister Karin Haysbert, who’s an amazing life coach and one of my best friends. I can sincerely say I love my family and enjoy spending time with them.
Where is your favorite place to vacation?
For a quick getaway in the US, I’d say Miami so I can lay on the beach all day, then dine at Larios, Prime 112 or Meat Market. Outside of the US, I’d say I love London. From the museums to the shopping to the nightlife, they have my heart.
How old were you when you first started modeling?
Professionally I had just turned 18, amateur wise I started in elementary school with church fashion shows and local shows.
Give us some fashion advice?
Well I talk about this in my new book, Make The World Your Runway among other things. Have fun with fashion by playing with accessories to dress things up and down. Find a great tailor to adjust hemlines or take pieces in or out because every brand/designer cannot make a garment to personally fit everyone perfectly.
Tell us about your favorite shoes.
I have a classic nude pump from Coach that I have been in love with for years. Nice skinny heel and perfect nude shade. It goes with so much. Less is more.
What is up next for you?
I just shot new campaigns for Maggie Sottero Designs and Trunk Club, so be on the lookout for those. I have a photo recreation shoot I did with Rah Mosley as an ode to Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford so check for that too. More TV, I ultimately want my own show. I also want to produce different shows. My own online boutique soon since people always ask about the clothes I wear. I’d love to get a great recurring role on a TV series. More speaking gigs to empower youth and women so everyone can Make The World Their Runway!
Do you have any favorite charities?
At The Well Conferences is my favorite. I have spoken the last two years at their leadership academy as we empower the next generation of young girls to lead in their future fields.

No, Rachel Diaz portrayed a typical “it” girl with a soft side for her family. I don’t consider myself that type.. a “trendy girl.” I like to do my own thing.

What is some advice you would give your fans about acting?
You have to have tough skin. Be prepared to live with rejection, perseverance is the name of the game in this business. Take your classes seriously and stay at it! You can do it!
My favorite look was the
cheetah print jacket. Never been huge on cheetah print. But now I am.
Who are your favorite red-carpet designers?
Wow. I have no idea. I’m
so bad at keeping up with designers. I should pay more attention to stuff like
that. The last carpet I walked I borrowed my friend’s vintage dress that she
got at an off shop for $15.
What is your most memorable moment on Grey’s Anatomy?
I have so many. Every
moment is so similarly set and so unique in style, it’s hard to choose. For
instance, I love the moment when Dahlia takes her hijab off to save someone’s
life because of what it stands for. But I love the moment when she gets a dog
because of how much fun I had on set that day playing with the dog.
Tell us about your role model campaign?
Something I really like to
stress is to embrace other cultures. While it’s so important to be yourself and
love who you are. I feel like it’s equally as important to have a worldly
understanding. America is made up of so many different cultures and ideals and
embracing those differences is a good way to lift our conscious thoughts as a
whole to a more empowering place.

I like really bad music.
Most of the music I listen to is guilty pleasure stuff. Like, I really like

have a torta from Hugo’s tacos probably every meal.

floral doc martins I got when I was 17. They’ve come back into my life recently
in a very big way. You also can’t go wrong with Vans.
What are your favorite pieces that you couldn’t live without?
My style is so simple. I’m
such a black jeans and t-shirt type of girl. Right now, I probably couldn’t
live without my doc martins that I previously mentioned. But I’ll probably get
hooked on a new type of shoe soon.
Do you have any pets?
Yes I do. I have a
beautiful dog named Jack who is 4. And I’ve brought two other dogs into my life
who are my boyfriends’ their names are Jack and Roxy. So I’ve got a little
family. It’s quite cute.
What are some of your beauty secrets?
I don’t usually wear
makeup unless I’m working. So I don’t have a particular skin regimen that I
stick to. But I do eat very clean. No meat or dairy. I think that helps
maintain my skin a lot.
Where is your favorite spot on Earth?
Yosemite when it’s
snowing. I love the mountains especially when they’re covered in snow. It’s the
most beautiful thing in the world. Even though I don’t like being cold. There’s
nothing like being surrounded by snow. It doesn’t seem worldly.
What’s up next for you?
I just shot a pilot for
Amazon in New Zealand a few weeks ago that I am stoked about. It’s got such a

works as well but I’m not sure if I can talk about it or not yet.

Republic of Georgia that I’ve started to fall in love with! I love their fall
line!

us about your shoe and boot collection.
I’m all about boots! I love thigh high boots in all colors.

away from my legs. For this shoot, I wore a lot of velvet boots because they
just look so great under lights and they feel so soft.

kind of bass do you play?
I
play a Fender jazz bass! The sound gets booties shakin!
Who
inspires you?
The late great Prince inspires me. He was a great friend. I
loved his music, his spirit, and his shoes! I always wanted to borrow them!
What do
you do to unwind?
I love baths! Nothing gets me relaxed and in a happy mood
like a bath with lots of bubbles and good music. I also love to watch reruns of
Friends on Netflix
Tell
us about what’s planned next for you.

which comes out in the spring!!! And I am currently working on a documentary.

It’s a grand tradition, and Monday night’sevent was no exception; particularly because the theme was “camp.”

No, not summer camp.
This year’s theme (in celebration of the museum’s new “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibit) was inspired by writer Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on Camp.”
“It is not a natural mode of sensibility, if there be any such. Indeed the essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration,” Sontag wrote, and concluded, “The ultimate Camp statement: it’s good because it’s awful.”

For over two decades, the Black Eyed Peas topped chart after chart with their free-spirited, universal anthems – combining catchy lyrics, powerhouse vocals, and the ingenious mix of both electronica and hip-hop style beats.
The award-winning music group have had a plethoraof songs topping the Billboard charts.
In fact, next year marks the Fifteenth Year anniversary of one of their most well-known, global hits:
“My Humps” (2005)
Though a fan-favorite that echoed from radio stations across the world with an outstanding Billboard reign, it receivedmuch backlash from music critics. This was said to be due to its “provocative lyrics” and the “exploitation of the female body”.
However, if you actually listen to what Stacy Ferguson, known as “Fergie”, explains throughout the upbeat song – it is quite the opposite..
The song explains how superficial men chase women.
Mesmerized by the woman’s assets, he’s almost under a spell.
“Get You Love Drunk Off My Humps.”
He can’t help but buy her expensive jewelry, bags, designer clothes, etc. – thinking this will make her give in to him.
However, the woman does not ask for these gifts.
“I say no but they keep giving.”
She also cannot be bought.
“You can look but you can’t touch or I’m a start some drama.”
“So don’t pull on my hand boy, you ain’t my man boy, I’m just trying to dance boy..”
If anything, it’s exposing a certain type of manin our society without being too serious. After all, she still accepts all of the lavish gifts, so no one is truly innocent here.
As we take a look into the lyrics of the popular Black Eyed Peas song…
Fergie goes on to mention the names of a few designers and clothing lines, all in which the boys are willing to buy for her —and were top notch during the time of the song’s release.
Can you name all five brands she mentions from the 2005 song?
1. Dolce & Gabbana
The first name on the list is certainly befitting.
The brand – founded in 1985 by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana – has remained one of the top fashion houses across the globe.
Although the once couple are no longer together romantically, they still remain in business – owning one of the most well-known brands in the world.
As of 2019, Dolce & Gabbana has an estimated company net worth of $1.14BillionUSD.
Keep up with the brand’s latest collections on Instagram.
2. Fendi
As the eldest brand on the list, Fendi will come to celebrate its 95th birthday next year!
As of 2019, Fendi is both a favorite of the couture runways and popular amongst the mainstream fashion world – as celebrities and fashion lovers alike sport the brand on a regular basis.
From pants, to sneakers, to boots, bags, sweaters, and even baby strollers – Fendi’s famous print can be found on a number of items, making it one of the most iconic fashion brands of today.
3. Donna Karan
Donna Karan is a fashion designer known for her comfortable, simple – yet elegant clothing. She gained notoriety with collections designed to give businesswomen an alternative to traditional business suits.
DKNY (Donna Karan New York) was founded in 1984 by Donna Karan.
Karan had launched DKNY as a women’s collection called Seven Easy Pieces that could translate easily from day to night. It was revolutionary at the time – due to the fact that women could wear something to work and then straight out at night.
The brand was highly profitable. So much so, in 2000, the brand along with Donna Karan’s mainstay line, sold to LVMH for $450 million.
Since, DKNY has confirmed that the it’s been sold to G-III Apparel Group for $650 million.
Seven7 Jeans, an abbreviation of 7 for All Mankind, is an American denim brand founded by Michael Glasser, Peter Koral, and Jerome Dahan in 2000. Their headquarters was in Vernon, California.
They began by designing women’s jeans. A men’s jeans line was introduced in fall 2002, and its Children Denim Collection for boys and girls in fall 2005. 7 for All Mankind also produces other clothing items such as skirts, shorts, and denim jackets.
The denim collection uses various pocket embroidery designs. The signature logo is found on their various styles. Their A-pocket jean consists of an A stitched on the pocket, at times even incorporating Swarovski Crystals. The Dojo jean consists of a 7 on the pocket, the Kate features V-shaped embroidery.
However, it is not always possible to determine the cut or fit by the pocket design alone.
Although no longer considered a top brand of today, the denim wear can still be purchased from a variety of stores and websites including their own official website.
5. True Religion
“In 2002, True Religion emerged onto the Los Angeles denim scene by blowing up the construction of the classic five-pocket jean. Industry-standard sewing machines couldn’t handle our designs, so we broke them apart and rebuilt them to produce our one-of-a-kind vision. With its five-needle thread attwo-stitch-per-inch process, our Super T stitch was instantly recognized for style that was unlike any other denim brand in the world.”
Under new owners, True Religion has recently been under construction. In attempts to reinvent itself, the latest 2019 campaign placed supermodel Bella Hadid as the face of the brand’s comeback.
The company is known for its signature jeans with a horseshoe printed on each of the pant’s back pockets.
