Berlin Fashion Week Spotlight: Marc Cain – In The Details

Using bold colors, and mixed prints, Veit delivered quite an eye-catching collection. This bright orange sweater, paired with a periwinkle and white polka-dot collared long-sleeve is whimsical with its sparkling pocket embellishments.

This black and white classic ensemble is made modern and fun with its mixed prints. Polka dots, small skulls and a psychedelic-print clutch infuse personality into this retro sweater and skirt combo.

All about the polka dots, Veit mixes this orange and white version with a circus-inspired tiger sweater. Our favorite detail? The chunky gold necklace that peeks from beneath the collar.

A feminine favorite. Veit took the little black dress and gave it a make-over with pastel pink and champagne tea roses.

A pearlescent periwinkle trench with layered pearls, silver chains and swarovski-embellished neck pieces? Yes please.

Overall, the Marc Cain catwalk presented a variable mix of whimsy and demure sophistication. Inspired by New York fashion, Veit presented a perfect blend of Wonderland meets Wallstreet.

Didit Hediprasetyo's 2014-2015 Fall-Winter Couture Collection

Here, images fit together like a patchwork: early Nineties New Yorkers in denim, the Forties bold silhouette, the street energy of East Village, the effortless sensuality of Paris, the syncopated rhythm of an urban tribal dance and the voluptuous luxury of timeless couture… Imbued with these snapshots of past and present, Didit Hediprasetyo’s 2014-2015 Fall-Winter Couture Collection nonetheless yields to no retro temptations.

There’s nothing vintage: everything is of the here and now, fired by the mood of the moment. A leather bomber jacket worn over a dress with a train; revisited denim dungarees worn close to the skin. Oversize shoulders and a loose hang mingle with the straight cuts of second-skin dresses. Scarf tips that sweep the asphalt and silk jersey drapes that reveal flesh at every step outrage modesty and glorify the body in movement.

Variations on the jacket, that modern form of power dressing: a Boyfriend denim jacket with khaki lambskin lapels gives the cue to a topstitched denim spencer with ribbing on the front and a lambskin bolero with reversed volumes on the back. Like the plumbline of the silhouette, it slips on over a top with the rounded lines of a bodysuit and irresistible high-waisted trousers in chambray.

“Jolie madame” denim dresses have strapless tops placed directly on tulle. Leather braiding gives a muscular, radical touch to the look. Herringbone in songket, that traditional Indonesian brocade, gives rhythm to the volume of a jacket with a fox fur collar.

The skilled work of the Lesage workshop distils its poetry and expertise in embroideries: birds flitting over the length of a skirt, a sparrow delineated in thread on a tube dress in army green polo knit, or outlining the stars scattered over a denim dress.

The day and evening wardrobe of this Didit Hediprasetyo girl is vibrant with the contrasts of urban denim, the romantic and decorative, the richness of songket and tailoring straight from the Forties.

A personal style that belongs to her alone.

Influencing Your Man's Skincare Style

Sexy skin is for men, too.

Men deserve a sexy, smooth, touchable face just as much as women do. Botox may be going to the extreme, but men may be surprised when they come to find that botox is on the up and up now days among men. However, for now, let’s start simpler.

If you want a clean, clear, smooth face, you have to wash, and moisturize, every day. I know that is difficult for some men. In the shower, when you brush your teeth, wash your face. Make it a habit. Here are a few good face washes, moisturizers, and after shaves for men.

– Dermalogica For Men –

This is one of the best, most extensive skin care lines around. Used frequently in beauty schools, this line has everything you could need, as it offers a wide selection of facial mapping products. The shave collection includes many amazing products for men.

A couple of our favorite essential items include:

Dermalogica : Clean Bar

This bar of soap is deep cleansing and is one of the most basic products in the line. A great product to start with, it deep cleans, renews skin, removes dirt and oil, and is specifically formulated for a man’s skin. $19.00

Dermalogica : Soothing Shave Cream

This rich and creamy shave cream give you a super-close shave that won’t leave skin feeling irritated. It helps skin recover from damage and helps prevent and reduce aggravation bought on by shaving. It also contains no artificial fragrance or color. $19.00

If your man is into it, we also suggest getting pedicures together. , you may even want to consider getting a pedicure. If he’s not a salon goer, maybe ease him into it by massaging his feet at home with some lotion, using clippers, and giving him a nice foot buff. If it means looking fresh and clean, why wouldn’t he want to please you?

Shopping is a favorite past time of the gentler sex, but sometimes men don’t go for shopping malls and fitting rooms. If there is something you think they would look great in while shopping, suggest it. Tell him why you like the style, and why you think it’d look good on him. Instead of complaining about your man’s hygiene or style, something that will only get him down, let him know you’re just using your fashion savvy-know how to make some suggestions.

Plus, if he’s open to it all, you’ll get the benefit of a smooth, kissable, sexy dressed man.

BELLA THORNE

Bella Thorne is no stranger to the limelight and it follows her wherever she goes. From charity projects to hiking, her energy and drive to be active and involved is evident in her passions. Bella has graced a long list of TV series appearances and has dabbled in film, which is now becoming her main focus. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Bella for the rest of the year and beyond. Get ready to discover more about her story in the next RUNWAY.

Getting to Know…Shannon Maree Walsh

Congratulations on your upcoming film, BEGIN AGAIN! We saw you attended the World Premiere at TIFF, tell us about that experience. Was it your first film festival?

I still get giddy just thinking about how much fun I had that weekend! I’d never been to a film festival before, so I was super excited and nervous and overwhelmed all at the same time. More than anything, though, I was pumped to see the movie. The theater had hundreds and hundreds of people in it and I never expected that (I thought it’d be a normal sized theater) so that caught me a little off guard, but in the best of ways.

You looked amazing on the carpet. How did you choose your outfit?

Thank you so much! I chose it with A LOT of advice. I can be very indecisive when it comes to dressing for parties and events, so I would pick a dress I like and then text my manager and all my friends a picture asking if they liked it. I ended up going with what I thought was modest and classy.

Are you close with your castmates? Any fun stories from set?

I’m very close with castmates. Ian Brodsky plays my brother in the film and he’s basically my brother in real life now, too. We talk all the time and confide in each other about everything—mostly our love lives. In general, everyone who plays in the band in the film is super close– we email and text each other all the time.

The best story from set happened midway through filming. We were on the rooftop of an apartment building—right next to the Empire State Building. It was a night shoot and we’d been filming for hours, so by midnight we were all a bit loopy. During breaks we’d start playing old school music, and we finally got John, the director, to take a break with us and pick up a guitar and sing. He jammed with us for at least a half an hour. It was awesome.

As you may know, we are a fashion magazine and we hear you are into fashion and beauty. With summer finally arriving, what are some of your ‘must-have’ items this season?

I burn easily, so I like mixing my tinted moisturizer with some Murad moisturizer that has SPF 30 in it. It feels light on my face and creates a vibrant and youthful look. Another must-have item is my M.A.C. mascara—I don’t really wear eyeliner, but I do like making my lashes look big.

How would you describe your personal style?

A friend recently described my style as “boho western”. I wear things with a boho and earthy feel—but I’m always comfy and casual. I have family in Montana that sends me authentic cowgirl boots almost every Christmas, so I wear those all the time, too.

Who are some of your favorite designers?

I like things that make a statement and make heads turn. Vera Wang has a stunning collection. I’m also a huge fan of Emilio Pucci.

Within your career, you must have had some long days on set. If you could only bring one beauty product out of your trailer to have on you, what would it be?

When Opposites Attract

So many of us out there look for our “soul mate” or perfect complement when it comes to relationships. But it’s true that your complete opposite can be just that. Sometimes someone that seems so different at first, can end up making the biggest impact, for the better. This type of relationship makes you reflect on yourself and grow. This reflection can help you to adjust and compromise in the relationship and helps you to find your true self. You also learn to take your partner for all they are and appreciate what they have to offer. You learn to understand their true intention is to be with the true you, not a mirrored vision of themselves, or someone they are looking to change.

There are still some key elements to the theory of “opposites attract”, to explore. No one can deny nature’s way of making us look to attributes such as physical attraction, similar life goals, similar parenting styles, financial organization, education and social class. Society gets so stuck in the rut of what’s “right” and “accepted”, that sometimes it’s what’s wrong, or “different”, that rewards us more in the long run. Again, it is finding the one that can help you grow, and discover areas of your life outside your comfort zone.

For example, like most of us, we have a typical mate that we are attracted too. But what if you stepped outside your box and let yourself gravitate towards someone else? Social status and education was at the top of the list when we asked for “important traits” in a mate. Yet, we have to take into consideration that some people out there might not have been given the same opportunities. By getting to know someone that grew up differently than you, or by listening to his or her story, it may give you insight on someone you may not have thought about twice.

The notion of “opposites attract” is about going beyond judging the book by its cover. Instead, it is about diving in, reading the words on the page inside a story that could very well unravel into very workable relationship.

Summer Swimwear 2014 Trend: High-Waisted Bikinis

Whether your shape is hourglass or straight, apple or pear, this style can work to accencuate your best features if styled correctly. If you are top heavy, or pear shaped, you should pair your bottoms with a halter top or another full coverage option that will supply balance. Straight or hourglass shapes can play a little more with top style. Triangular bikini tops with ruffles or embellishments will help to create the illusion of more curves up top.

As for prints or colors of choice, the bolder the better! Fun fabrics, such as animal and floral prints, and tribal patterns are the star of the season, and when it comes to color, choose the one that best compliments your skin tone. Softer hues with lace embellishements are also making a splash, and are reminiscent of lingerie inspired swimwear. Below are a few of our favorite choices.

Mara Hoffman – ‘Rays’ Lattice High-Waisted Bikini Bottoms – $138.50

ASOS – Tapestry Print High Waisted Bikini Bottom – $39.50

Clover Canyon – Cigar Granny High-Waisted Bikini Bottom – $101.00

Revolve – Barrymore High Waist Bikini – $130.00

Cia Maritima – Bandeau High Waist Bikini – $170.00

Robin Piccone – Penelope High Waist Bikini Bottoms – $90.00

Circuelle Gives Women A Luxurious Self-Examination Experience

When Circuelle founder Melissa Kirkpatrick discovered a lump in her breast, she envisioned a product that would inspire women to regularly perform self-examinations at home frequently and feel at ease. “Breast health must start with breast awareness. That’s why I created Circuelle,” Kirkpatrick said.

Circuelle is a revolutionary Breast Ritual Crème that is designed to give women a luxurious experience when performing their monthly breast self-examination. Not only is it uniquely formulated to increase touch sensitivity but it also enhances your awareness of any changes in your breasts. Circuelle infuses the skin with an exclusive “Pro-Breast Health Complex,” which carries healing properties and more importantly, hydrates. Furthermore, studies show that Circuelle helps with the movement of the hand across the skin, increases the ability to detect any unusual lumps and instils the skin with Evening Primrose Oil.

Green tea extracts, vitamin D and E are just a few of the fabulous ingredients also included in Circuelle. “Being aware of our bodies is so important,” Kirkpatrick said. “I hope Circuelle opens up the conversation that breast self-exams are one of the most valuable gifts we can give to ourselves and everyone we love.” We agree, Melissa, we agree!
