OFFICIAL HOT MESS

With captivating melodies, controversial lyrics and a sense of style all their own, its no wonder Official Hot Mess is taking the music industry by storm.

You may recognize this band from their pop/rock single “Welcome 2 LA” which was featured on such shows as MTV’s “The Hills,” “The City,” “The Jersey Shore,” “The Real World,” and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” and now Official Hot Mess has released another hit called “Money Makes the Girl$ Go Round,” proving they are a force to be reckoned with.

“Money Makes the Girl$ Go Round” has just been added to the rotation of “New Pop First” and has already been licensed by hit shows including “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” “Gigantic” and “The Real L Word.” Official Hot Mess has most recently been selected as Clear Channel Radio and I Heart Radio’ “NEW! Artist to Watch” and “NEW! Recommended Artist” of the month.

We sat down with front women Kristy and Lindsey to discuss their latest single, fashion, and what’s behind the infamous name…OFFICIAL HOT MESS.

Tell us how you got the name “OFFICIAL HOT MESS”?
We call ourselves Official Hot Mess because it seems as though mischief and trouble always have a way of finding us!…Like the time we thought we were on a flight to L.A. and ended up in Puerto Rico. Or the time we accidentally set off the security alarms at the Vh1 building in NYC and ended up surrounded by police! Official Hot Mess is a spot-on description of the chaos and craziness that ensues when we, and the four wild and crazy guys in our band hit the road.

Your single “Money Makes the Girl$ Go Round” just premiere on AOL Music, Amazon and iTunes. What is the inspiration behind this song?
‘Money Makes the Girl$ Go Round’ is a sassy and playful party song that we wrote with an underlying contemporary and ironic twist on the classic phrase from “Cabaret.” The sarcasm and little bit of humor in the lyrics infused with the kitchy synth elements and rock guitars make it come alive. Plus, we’re SO excited, the music video for “Money Makes the Girl$ Go Round” just hit #1 on MTV Music’s Top 100! Woo Hoo!

As sisters do you find you have a similar or different taste in fashion? What are some of your “go to” designers?
We each have our own unique sense of style. We like to wear fashions that suit our individual tastes and fit our personalities. We’d rather let our own opinions shine than conform to what others think is “trendy.” Some of our “go to” designers are Betsy Johnson, Guess, Gasoline Glamour, Rock and Republic and Wicked Threads.

Why do you think it’s important to incorporate fashion in to music?
Just like our songs express our feelings…fashion is a form of expression as well!

In your opinion, what is the hottest trend this season?
We’re obsessed with Spirit Hoods!! They’re super cute, comfy and cuddly! Plus, when you purchase a Spirit Hood you are automatically donating a portion of proceeds to help fund a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to helping your particular animal. We’re vegetarians, major animal rights activists, and supporters of PETA, so combining fashion and philanthropy is an A+ in our book! 🙂

Romantic Getaway Swiss Alps

Situated near the foot of the notorious Matterhorn Mountain is the municipality of Zermatt. Located in Valais, Zermatt is arguably one of the most picturesque places in the world to spend your winter vacation. The majority of visitors reach the small town of Zermatt by railway train from the nearby town of Täsch; passengers enjoy traveling through quaint villages and over fairy-tale bridges along the way. More posh travelers may elect to charter Air Zermatt and arrive by helicopter. However you choose to make your entrance, you will notice that nearly all the passenger vehicles including taxis, shuttles and buses are electric. The decision to “go green” regarding transportation ensures that visitors and residents of this ski resort village fully enjoy Zermatt’s towering mountains and breathtaking views.

With a population of around 6,000 residents and only three main streets, virtually everything is within a 30-minute walk. Don’t be fooled, however, by the notion that Zermatt is a sleepy little ski town with merely rustic accommodations to offer travelers. Advertised as “Up the hill, above the others but still in the heart of Zermatt”, Coer des Alpes Hotel-Garni offers guests the unique architectural flare of Heinz Julen. Julen, an internationally renowned architect and artist, successfully blended both of his passions into this modern boutique hotel. Guests can choose between a room, loft or sky apartment. Regardless of which arrangements you make, staying at Coer des Alpes ensures you are residing in Zermatt’s most trendy and original property by far. Stunning views of the Matterhorn from private balconies and terraces, sloping glass windows, open lounges, modern freestanding baths and fireplaces, combined with Julen’s signature chairs and chandeliers, perfectly blends Zermatt’s rich history with today’s modern style. The spa at Coer des Alpes offers many luxury amenities including a Bio-Sauna, tanning room, dream shower, luxury pool, caldarium and fitness room as well as numerous massage therapies and special treatments.

Zermatt is not only for the young and trendy; invitations to family and group travelers are warmly extended. Zermatt’s Alex Lodge offers 12 rooms to choose from, which sleep between four and eight adults. Children under five years of age stay free of charge and babysitting/child services are available, as are cribs and monitors. The Alex also offers ski school for those young and old who could benefit from a professional lesson.

When viewed from afar, the Alex Lodge appears as most traditional lodges do; a three-story A-frame with wood balconies and large windows. While this lodge may be family-oriented and traditional in appearance, it is by no means a hideout in the mountains. The Alex Lodge is more a luxury apartment- style home than the raccoon sanctuary one might assume from a glance. The Alex Lodge features well lit open living rooms, natural stone walls, black marble furnishings, hardwood floors, surround sound system, free standing bathtubs and inviting fireplaces. The spa area includes steam bath, sauna and Jacuzzi. The fresh air, incredible views and treasured memories created with family and friends at the Alex Lodge are complimentary.

Now that you have a few options on where to stay, let’s decide what to eat and drink! Many of the resorts offer a traditional breakfast of breads, meats, cheeses and juices. For lunch, be sure to make an appearance at Restaurant Chez Vrony. Originally a small farmhouse, Chez Vrony has transitioned over the past 100 years into the place to dine and be seen while visiting this now famous tourist destination. Chez Vrony is described as serving authentic, and organic, regional fare within a very cosmopolitan setting. Reservations in the winter season are highly recommended.

Another more casual dining option is Sparky’s Bar and Restaurant. Ironically located near Church Square, Sparky’s offers an extensive drink menu and attracts a younger and more boisterous crowd. The food menu does have a variety of choices that range from nachos to curry and homemade meatballs.

For a more romantic setting, choose to dine at Le Gitan. Le Gitan has a limited number of tables which provides a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Barbara and Sacha Darioli invite patrons to enjoy this family operated restaurant by serving homemade dishes consisting of prawns, lamb, beef and spit roasted chicken tarragon. Be sure to stop by even if only to unwind with a cocktail after a day of skiing or for a simple nightcap.

For skiing and snowboarding, Zermatt is world-renowned. A remarkable system of gondolas, railways and cable car connect the four main areas of mountain slopes in Zermatt. The four main areas; – Sunnegga, Gornergrat, Klein Matterhorn and Schwarzsee – offer both ski and snowboard trails, known in the region as pistes, from intermediate to expert level.

Those who consider themselves experts may seek to experience Zermatt’s Heli Skiing. The most popular and extreme descent is the Monte-Rosa. Starting near the summit of Europe’s second highest mountain, the Monte-Rosa run takes almost an entire day. Guides take groups of no more than four through this alpine glacier due to its extremely steep grade; your guide may even have to rope you off if need be! Other off-piste Heli Skiing adventures, which are less strenuous and shorter in distance, are available. Zermatt is marketed as having year round skiing, however, November through March produce the best conditions.

High-Alpine tours are also available for those not as passionate about snow sports. Don’t forget the camera on this adventure! The Cog Railway carries passengers nearly two miles up from Zermatt to the summit of Gornergrat. At Gornergrat, spectators will enjoy once-in-a-lifetime views of the Matterhorn, Monte-Rosa and the glaciers. But the show doesn’t stop there – another two and a half miles up, at Europe’s highest vantage point reachable by cable car, visitors will admire the summits of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps. The panoramic vista of the Matterhorn at this altitude is beyond words.

The opportunities to enjoy Zermatt are endless. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time in this well-kept winter wonderland. Whatever your passion, Zermatt will not disappoint you. It’s the perfect destination for your winter GETAWAY!

Shake it up with Chris Trousdale

Best known as a member of the popular boy band, Dream Street alongside Jesse McCartney as well as for his duets with girl group Play, (rendition of “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me”) and solo artist Nikki Cleary (remake of the Grease track “You’re the One that I Want”), Chris Trousdale is now taking his captivating singing, dancing, and acting skills and showcasing them on the small screen in a role on the popular Disney show “Shake It Up.”

Chris plays “Teen ‘It’ Boy” Justin Starr, who makes girl’s hearts melt every time he sings a note (think Justin Bieber). Justin likes to think of himself as a “normal regular kid”; a regular kid who’s sold ten million albums, had a sold out concert tour and even his own lunch box, but there’s more behind his mega-watt smile than meets the eye.
In addition to his appearance on “Shake It Up,” Chris is currently recording a self-titled, dance/pop album due out later this year.

We sat down with this triplethreat to discuss his boy band days, new music, and of course, fashion.

You play Pop Star Justin Starr on “Shake It Up.” Were you able to draw from your own experiences as an artist for this role?

Most definitely! I took a lot of my experiences from Dreamstreet and used them in this role. Rocky (Zendaya) and Cece (Bella Thorne) played diehard fans which reminded me of my fans. The girls were very convincing during shooting, it made it very easy to play off them.

We hear you’re in studio recording a new album! What type of music can we expect?

I love an album that makes you want to dance but also has some songs that can help get you through those difficult times, so it’ll definitely have all that. My new album will have a pop and R&B feel.

Tell us about your fashion style. Are you laid back, like to dress up?

I’m a guy who wears sweats on the weekend, but normally am well put together. I’m always switching up my style, from hipster to rocke,r to euro prep, and I even love creative recs and supras for a hip-hop look.

Who are your top 3 favorite designers, and why?

Keanan Duffty is amazing! He’s got a rock & roll edge that I love! Another is Michael Bastian, who makes awesome outerwear, coats and cool trenches. Zara! That’s a brand I can always go to and know I’ll find something sick and sophisticated, and I can get my popstar look on.

How do you feel music comes together with fashion?

Music and fashion go hand and hand! Music is an art form that can change anyone’s vibe. Fashion does the same thing only it’s a visual, so together they’re a force to be reckoned with.

Runway Horoscopes for Winter 2010-11

FASHION ASTOLOGY FORECAST

Aries

Choose change over stability this season when it comes to your fashion and your lifestyle. If you have a new glimmer of a hair cut or style in mind, try it out! The same goes for a new job position, date prospect or hangout location. Going on a shopping spree with that Christmas bonus is just what you need for the holiday season, and don’t forget to check the runways of your favorite designer for ideas. Fashion forward color: rustic orange.

Taurus

This season, take the work that goes into your wardrobe down a notch. Whatever your day job, figure out a way to transition easily from day to night so you don’t have to sacrifice your social obligations. You work hard but you can play hard, too, and look fashionable while doing both. Spice things up with a chunky statement necklace or throw on a teeny ruffled skirt for night in lieu of your slacks or jeans. Fashion forward color: anything metallic.

Gemini

First impressions hold great power and, this season, you want that power to define you. Take some time to craft the image you want for yourself during this period of change, whether you’re searching for something (a job, a relationship) or just out to cherish your own time. Be strong and confident – personify the essence of Gucci or Yves St. Laurent. Fashion forward color: crimson.

Cancer

The mission for Cancers this season is to use color to create more fun and passion in your life. You may decide to go from brunette to auburn locks or choose a lush new lip stain. The possibilities are endless, especially if you incorporate them into your interior decorating (sunny yellow walls, anyone?) Either way, the more you wear color the better you will feel right now. Fashion forward color: bold stripes.

Virgo

Ah, dear Virgo. You always seem to worry about your finances, so take the plunge, finally. Do budget cuts, review expenses, whatever it takes. Although you may feel that this will cut into your love for fashion, you don’t have to sacrifice your personal chic style. Bring back the classic vintage look by hunting down fashions at all those hole-in-the-wall stores you usually avoid. Pin-up classy never goes out of style. Fashion forward color: peach.

Scorpio

You have a very strong sense of self since Venus has been spending so much time in your sign. This is good because you have developed a solid fashion sense, style and idea of what you want. Since you’re so determined to make a statement, try something bold that even shakes you up a bit. Pick one of the boldest fashions on the runway this season and go for it, whether it is a unique hat or daring cut. Fashion forward color: margarita green.

Leo

Try mixing and matching some opposite outfits this season, which will not only save you money but will get you in the spirit for holiday parties. The planets in your sign help balance out your natural beauty with your signature complication, so it is your time to shine. Fashion forward color: sunbaked gold.

Libra

Balance simple elegance with your unique personality this season to find your best fashion style. Even though the cooler months can make it difficult to wear your favorite pieces, simple layering or pairing with a fitted pea coat or boots can make all the difference. Follow your intuition instead of trying to pick out the perfect outfit – it will help you look more stunning. Fashion forward color: noir

Sagittarius

Work has been constant and demanding the past couple months, and it isn’t slowing down this season, unfortunately. Although you may itch to play, transform that frustration into updating your wardrobe for a more social or business casual look. Don’t make a large investment in unique pieces, though, as your tastes may change in the upcoming months as the weather begins to warm, leaving your cooler fashions in the dust until next season. Fashion forward color: gun metal grey.

Capricorn

The holiday season for you will be very social and you’ll have a lot of fun dressing up for events and festivities. While in the past you looked at fashion emergencies (i.e. missing a dress button in the middle of a party) as a huge nuisance, it is more likely that you will see them as an exciting challenge now. Fashion forward color: cocoa brown.

Aquarius

A major career change right before the holidays might shake up some of your scheduled plans. Don’t stress though – this job will open lots of doors and give you the chance to flaunt your fantastic fashion style. This also gives you the chance to practice first impressions and understand how much they really matter; important to know for when you are the one doing the hiring. Fashion forward color: charcoal.

Pisces

Lately you have been thinking about the past and flirting with nostalgia, whether it is past relationships or your sense of style. Move out of this rut by choosing signature fashion pieces that are right for you. Don’t feel you have to conform to feel comfortable. Take a look at the runways of designers such as Max Mara and Betsey Johnson, to get inspired. Fashion forward color: cream.
