Suburgatory's Parker Young On His Personal Style

Are you excited that Suburgatory is doing so well on ABC? What do you love most about the show?

Yes I am so thrilled!! There are a lot of amazing shows that, for one reason or another, aren’t well received by audiences; it’s great to know that people are appreciating all of the work that is going into this show. The thing I love most about it is the people involved. I have so much fun with the cast and crew and learn so much every day.

How do you describe your personal style?

Interesting question…I have never put much thought into it. My dad calls it “hollywood ugly.” 🙂 By that I think he means that my style is pretty care free and simple. I stick to the basics while keeping things simple and comfortable. I am open to finding my style, but have only recently had fashion doors opening for me.

Who are your favorite designers and why?

I don’t have many favorite designers just yet. I wear what I like and so far I havent been too adventurous. I love my Dolce and Gabbanna button down that fits great, a lot of times I find stuff to fit too “big” on me in my size and that brand seems to fit me really well. I love Ted Baker and Hugo Boss suits. One of my favorite stores right now is All Saints though.

Do you prefer trend over what you personally like best or do you do what suits you regardless of what is in style?

I tend to stick to what suits me regardless of what is in style. Although I would like to imagine that the things I enjoy wearing tend tocoincide with what is “in style.”

Who is your male celebrity fashion icon favorite and why?

I’ve gotta take this one back a bit. I like the iconic James Dean. He was able to pull off the “rebel without a cause or care” better than anyone.

What are some of your staple fashion items in your closet and why?

Basic t-shirts: black white grey (the more worn the better). Denim jeans: blue and tan. My leather jacket. A back or grey hoodie. Couple of thermals and flannels. A nice suit and for shoes you have to have a pair of chucks and some boots. I have kick around boots made by Redwings and then some slightly dressier boots. These are the staples!! Oh, and plenty of socks and underwear!

Jordi Vilasuso Interview

Runway: What about your role as the cardiologist, Dr. Griffin Castillo, initially attracted you?

Jordi Vilasuso: I liked that the character was a very respected physician and was passionate about his vocation. I come from a medical family, so I loved the fact that I could pay homage to all of them.

R: So the medical field was of interest to you before you started the show?

JV: I always told my father, who’s a pain specialist, that although I’d never be a real doctor, I would someday play one on TV!

R: So you’ve always known you would become an actor?

JV: Yes. I’ve always been inspired by great stories and the great actors who have brought them to life. The fact that I’m in this profession is a boy’s dream come true.

R: In what other ways can you relate to your character-other than the passion and rugged masculinity?

JV: Griffin cares deeply for his family and is loyal to a fault. When he commits to something, he’s all in.

R: What aspects of your character are difficult to connect with?

JV: A lot of the medical jargon and techniques that come with being an MD can be difficult, but I always have my family on speed dial if something comes up.

R: What can we expect next from the relationship between Griffin and Alicia Minshew’s character, Kendall?

JV: Well, her husband and father of her children has just somehow miraculously come back from the dead-soaps! That situation puts my character in a very difficult position-he’s in love with her, but also has to accept their marriage and allow it to exist without interfering. It’s a kind of noble struggle that I think bonds Kendall and Griffin. However, at the end of the day, Griffin’s heart is breaking and it sucks!

R: We’re sure you don’t walk around in hospital scrubs when you aren’t on set, but would you say your personal style is similar to your character’s “off-duty” wardrobe?

JV: In some ways. I like that it’s relaxed and rugged. I like clothes that fit comfortably and are easy to move in. Some of the T-shirts on the show were a little too tight-and of course I know why they did that-but I felt it was a bit much and the situation was quickly resolved.

R: Who are some of the designers you wear the most or gravitate toward for that comfort of movement?

JV: Definitely John Varvatos. I think his clothes fit me perfectly and have a subtle edge to them.

R: What type of upcoming projects do you have planned outside of All My Children?

JV: None at the moment. My focus is on the job at hand and the journey that lies ahead as we wrap up the show.

R: You’ve been on TV shows, in movies and even in a high school musical. Which kind of performing do you prefer?

JV: I prefer film. There’s so much more time to rehearse and to get to know what you’re doing. There’s also a lot less dialogue to memorize!

R: Do you see yourself playing dramatic roles in the future or are you interested in venturing into other genres?

JV: I see myself being open to different characters that are suited for me, and look forward to the kinds of parts that will be available to me now that I’m in my 30s.

VEEP's Sufe Bradshaw on Her Personal Style

Are you excited about VEEP? Tell us what’s it like to work with Julia…

I am so excited. What a ride! Julia is such a great example and joy to work with. I learned so much, she is a testament to someone who does what she loves so it doesn’t feel like work.

How do you describe your personal style?

I wear simple but eloquent; stylish but not forced. If you feel good in it, 9 times out of 10, you look good in it.

Do you prefer trend over what you personally like best or do you do what suits you regardless of what is in style?

I try to wear what looks good and is comfortable but do appreciate new styles and trends, especially accessories to give the outfit a little more flare.

Who is your fashion icon favorite and why?

I love Kanye West. He is a great example of someone who wears what he wants and doesn’t care what people say. He definitely sets the trends. Anyone else see his music video on youtube w Jay-Z and Kanye is wearing a quilt? I love that!

What are some of your staple fashion items in your closet and why?

A quilt like Kanye! Just kidding, for sure a black classical dress. You can always dress it up or dress it down. I love anything 80s throwback. I admit it, I have a 80s throw back stash of clothes in my closet. Especially the Fresh Prince of Bel Air glasses. When in doubt go 80s.

Shoes or jewelry and why?

Shoes and jewelry tell a lot about a person. Shoes can be a great compliment to the outfit but I go for comfortable shoes because I have to wear them all day. Having a variety of shoes is a necessity but accessories help tell your style. I am big on hats and glasses too. They can transform an outfit. I think scarfs are great as well.

Here is sneak peak of the show, enjoy! http://www.hbo.com/veep/about/video/tease-heartbeat.html?autoplay=true&cmpid=ABC1149%20(will%20provide%20a%20new%20link%20after%201/29)

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Spring/Summer collections 2012

Mercedes-Benz to title sponsor Russian Fashion Week

Moscow, Russia – Mercedes-Benz has signed a three-year deal for title sponsorship of Russian Fashion Week – the key event in the Russian fashion industry and the largest fashion week in Eastern Europe. Starting this year, Russian Fashion Week is to change its name to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. The first fashion week under this brand is to be held in Moscow from March 31 until April 5 in the Congress-Hall of the World Trade Center.

Russian Fashion Week had been held in Moscow for the last ten years in early April and mid-October. During this period, RFW has discovered dozens of new designers and has presented over sixty international designers to the Russian market. From the very first day, RFW was aimed at supporting and promoting Russian fashion and has increased interest in Russian designers both at home and abroad. Partnerships and joint projects between RFW and fashion weeks in Milan, London, Beijing, Athens, Lisbon and other cities have turned Moscow into a major European fashion center. In addition, Russian Fashion Week has become a central event for all former Soviet republics – the best designers from the Ukraine, Belarus and other countries showcase their collections at Russian Fashion Week in Moscow. The collaboration between RFW and Mercedes-Benz will make it possible to bring the young Russian fashion industry to an even higher level and wider audience.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia will occupy a special position in the international fashion calendar, not only due to the presence of Mercedes-Benz, but also, primarily, due to the fact that the German auto manufacturer supports the most influential fashion events in the world. Fashion is the key communication platform for Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz cars are exhibited at fashion weeks in Milan, Paris and London, where the German brand is a strategic partner. Changing its name to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, Russian Fashion Week elevates itself to sit alongside Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

“Russia is a fast-growing market for our cars, and Moscow – the next hot fashion destination. Our participation in fashion week is vivid proof of these two axioms, – CEO of Mercedes-Benz Russian Juergen Sauer says. – The signing of this agreement is a logical development of Mercedes-Benz’s global strategy to support the most important fashion weeks in the world. I’m confident that we can strengthen the potential of Russian Fashion Week, as we did, for example, in New York and Berlin”.

“The participation of Mercedes-Benz in RFW will give, in addition to the obvious benefits, an even more acute sense of fashion and style, – Alexander Shumsky, CEO of Artefact Communications Agency, General Producer of Russian Fashion Week, says. – For the national “fashion consciousness” and development is it important to be on the same catwalk with the legends and trendy designers, such as participants of the previous RFW – Vivienne Westwood, Jeremy Scott, JC de Castelbajac. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia will affirm Moscow’s position on the world fashion map.”

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia is to be held in the Congress-Hall of World Trade Center from March 31 until April 5, 2011. The Grand Opening is to be held on the eve of the first show day – March 30, 2011. The participants of the week will present Fall-Winter 2011/2012 collections. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia will be opened by the show of Slava Zaitsev Fashion House, among the other participants of the week are Tatiana Parfionova, Julia Nikolaeva, Yegor Zaitsev, Stella Ndombi, St. Bessarion, Oleg Biryukov, Poustovit, Olga Samoschenko, Elena Tsokalenko and many others. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Spring-Summer 2012 is to be held October 21-25, 2011.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia will be held in the same format as in its previous seasons and will remain Moscow’s biggest “by invitation only” event. The agreement between RFW and Mercedes-Benz was negotiated by IMG Fashion, which commercially represents the event..

6 Simple Ways for a Ravishing Makeover

It is easy to feel weighed down by the monotony of life. Often people begin get tired of the way they look every day. If you are also like them, know that it is okay for you to wish that you could entirely change your appearance. It’s high time for you to spice things up a little. But you are probably somehow clueless about how to begin?

Going for a makeover doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to bring about drastic changes in your life and become someone you’re not. It simply means that you implement small changes that bring on a positive transformation and makes you feel good about yourself, inside out.

Read below for a few tips on how you can change the way you look:

1. Say Yes to Bold Colors – Bid adieu to your boring neutral colors, like beige, grey, black or navy, and replace them with more vibrant choices. Buy a bag of a striking turqoise or pink shade. Pair your pencil skirt with a richer plum or garnet color. For a fresh new look, team any neutral dress with an extremely bright cardigan. The options are endless. You got the idea…right?

2. Change Your Hairstyle – Try out some highlights for a distinctive new look. Also, change the way you part your hair and try out different hairstyles, be it buns, braids, waves, or anything else. Finally, zero in on one hairstyle that gives a nice new dimension to your face. Seek help from your hair stylist or friends in this matter, if need be. You may even buy any of the real-looking celebrity wigs, for a dramatic change in your looks on some special occasion or party.

3. Try Out Something Trendy – Classics, like the LBD, a crisp white shirt, et al may never go out of fashion but do not shrink from trying out something trendy. Sure, it may go out of season in a few months but they definitely impart the much-needed punch to your usual sober look. Snakeskin, polka dots, and plaid are some trendy stuff you can look forward to, in fall 2011.

4. Shoe Show – Bury your flats and black pumps; and be ready to look like the scandalous, hot diva with your stunning sky-high heels, ankle booties, or chunky platforms.

5. Discard Your Usual Makeup Shades – Embrace new shades, be it your eye shadow, lip color, nail color, blush on or anything else.

6. Seek Inspiration from Your Favorite Celebrity – It is common to be stumped by the way your favorite celebrity look. Observe their style statement and the kind of dresses she wears. Did you like what she wore on last premiere show? Venture on to look for a similar yet more affordable alternative to it. Or, you may get it custom-made for yourself. You do not have to copy it but seeking inspiration is definitely a good idea.

Music and Fashion with L2

Sisters Melissa and Jessica of the Pop duo L2 have been singing, acting, and performing since a young age. The girls have co-written and recorded more than 60 songs, and their latest single “Insomnia” debuted this week at #46 on the Billboard HOT Dance/Club Charts after being the #3 Breakout last week. This is their second time having a single on the charts. Their single “Boys or Girls” also made it on the Top 10 hit list on the Billboard Hot Dance/ Club Chart. L2 has signed non-exclusive music licensing deals with Dish Nation (Fox TV), DMX, MTV/VHI and Bunim Murray for exclusive music licensing. Many of their songs have been playing on “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s ” including 7 placements for “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding” episode, as well as song placements on “Tough Love ” & “The Real World : San Diego”. Their strong connection as sisters shines through in their music. Their songs display their unique vocal blend and harmonies, incredible lyrics with a life lesson in every verse, along with the hooks that stay in your head for days to come.

Runway recently chatted with L2 about their latest projects, future goals and of course…fashion. The official music video for “Insomnia” was released exclusively through Just Jared Jr. on February 8th and can be found on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GoI5vocef4 Make sure to check it out!

Tell us what L2 is currently working on?

L2 is currently promoting the release of our newest single “Insomnia” along with the Music Video for the Pop/Dance Hit. We also have some sick “Insomnia” remixes that will be coming out soon. We co-wrote the song with Luke Walker (aka God’s Paparazzi) of Pulse Recording. We’ve been working hard in the studio with Luke on our new music and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

Your single “Boy or Girls” reached Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Charts. Moving forward, how does L2 plan on topping this amazing accomplishment?

It was such an amazing accomplishment to go Top 10 on the Billboard Dance Charts with our single “Boys Or Girls”! We’re hoping to go even higher with “Insomnia” and would love to go #1 at some point in our career. We have some really amazing remixers involved in the project and are excited to see how the single is received. We think it’s our best song yet!

Which musician or band do you feel has the best style? Why?

We absolutely love Katy Perry and her style! She is not only a musical inspiration to us but also a fashion icon as well. Her style is very fun and original, but yet classy. We really like how she maintains a balance of pop and edge at the same time. We love sequins and studs, both of which Katy Perry totally rock!

As sisters, would you say your personal style is similar? Or different?

As sisters we have similar taste personally, but as L2 we look at ourselves as two in one. Melissa is the classy, sophisticated, & sexy side and Jessica is the edgy, trendy, & sassy side. We like to describe our L2 style as “Glam Rock”; it’s Pop with an edge. For example, we love pairing studded heels with a vibrant colored skirt and a cropped leather jacket

Who are some of your favorite designers?

Some of our favorite designers right now that we are rocking for L2 are BCBG, Brian Lichtenberg, Jeffrey Campbell, Herve Leger, Dolce & Gabbana, LaRok, & Veda. We also love SACHIKA, they designed our costumes for our live show! We are really into the Blonds designs as well and hope to wear some of their pieces someday.

What kind of role does fashion play in your career?

Fashion plays a very important role in our career. We feel it is an amazing way to express ourselves, and as artists it is vital that our style is an extension of our L2 sound. We take a lot of pride in our image and are very hands on with our Creative Director in regards to costuming and the way we want to be perceived stylistically.

Volvo Fashion Week Moscow 2012

The concept of Volvo Fashion Week Moscow is guided by the well-earned experience of world Fashion Weeks in Paris, New York, London and Milan.

Volvo Fashion Week Moscow format implies everyday designer parades traditionally catching the attention of a lot of journalists. Meanwhile designers represent their new collections in special show-rooms. This form of collection presentation attracts hundreds of buyers to the Week, as well as representatives of the companies producing fabrics, accessories, garniture and ready-made clothing. The Fashion Week has become a center of business meetings and clinching numerous deals.

The history of the legendary Russian fashion industry project stretches back to the year of 1994. This was the year when Moscow hosted the fashion event which was justly considered as unique for Russia at that time, i.e. — High Fashion Week involving A-list fashion stars. The date of this magnificent event organized by the Haute Couture and Prêt-à-porter Association that was founded for the purpose of promotion and development of national fashion, can be considered the birth date of Russian fashion industry. For 10 years haute couture collections by Russian designers and world leading fashion houses have been shown at the High Fashion Week held in the State Concert Hall «Russia». Since 2003 the format of the Week has been changed so that the event is now carried out twice a year, in late March and late October, representing prêt-à-porter class collections. The key element of the new format is ready-made prêt-à-porter and prêt-à-porter de luxe class clothing. The Week is mainly aimed at fostering the development of fashion industry in Russia, promoting Russian designers and showing the prime world fashion models on the runway.

Following the fashion trends in 2009 the Association project was named Volvo Fashion Week Moscow. Partnership with this exclusive auto brand indicates the high status and prestige of the Fashion Week.

Fashion Week has discovered such talented designers as Igor Chapurin, Andrey Sharov, Tatiana Parfenova, Victoria Andreyanova, Luda Dobrokhotova, Daria Razumikhina, Olga Kameneva, Natasha Drigant, Sergey Efremov and introduced them to the public at large. The backbone cast taking part in every Fashion Week are Russian Haute Couture and Prêt-à-porter Association members. They are the ones responsible for developing the present image of Russian fashion, defining the content of Russian school of design, and their collections are well represented in the most notable boutiques.
