Paris Berelc interview

You looked great today, what is was your favorite look?

My favorite look was definitely the pink gown. It is so beautiful and I just could not stop twirling in it. I wore a gold flower crown with it and I literally felt like a princess. I never get to wear things like that. I don’t even think I own anything pink.

What designers do you shop?

My favorite place to shop is Topshop. They always seem to have what I’m looking for. They include so many different types of looks in their line. It can go from edgy to girly to vintage. I love that because I get to try new looks and styles normally don’t wear. But some designers I love are Zac Posen, Ellie Saab, and Versace. They can be bold but elegant at the same time.

Whats your thoughts on shoes?

I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed with shoes but they are important part of a look for me haha. Shoes are the last part of your outfit that can really complete it. If I put an outfit together and don’t have a pair of shoes to go with it, I have to change my outfit.

Tell us more about Lab Rats and your character on the show.

Lab Rats: Elite Force is about a group of teenage superheroes and bionics. We go on missions and help save the world. All our powers together make us one of the most powerful force. My character is Skylar Storm. She just regained her 24 powers so it’s a lot of fun to have all of these incredible abilities. I don’t even know what all of them are. A few of them are flying, heat vision, and I can shoot lightning out of my hand. I love the fact that years from now when I look back, I’ll be able to say I played a superhero.

Whats the funniest thing that happened on the set?

I am constantly dancing and singing around set. It doesn’t matter where I am or what we are doing. I have an issue of not being able to stay still. On one of our filming days, we were in between takes and I was dancing like a total weirdo. I didn’t realize that the camera was rolling and our director says, “Hey Paris, what song is in your head?” I took a moment and said, “I don’t have one.” Everyone at video village started cracking up and it was put on our blooper reel.

We hear you were a gymnast, are you still active in that sport?

Yes I am. I still go once a week to make sure I don’t lose my skills and keep in shape. I used to be a level 10 and I was training 20 hours a week. I haven’t trained in about 2 years. The first few weeks of getting back into were really tough. I would wake up the next day not being able to move. But I’m starting to get the hang of things again and more skills are starting to come back to me. I love being able to get back into the gym and flip around for fun.

What’s your favorite food?

SUSHI!!! Thank goodness I have friends who like sushi as well. A lot of people say they love sushi but only get a California roll. That’s not real sushi to me haha. I could honestly eat it every day. I’m a sucker for spicy so I always get spicy tuna or yellow tail sashimi with jalapeño.

What do you do for fun?

Hiking and going to the beach. I’m such a beach person. I’m obsessed with the ocean. My favorite place to go is Malibu. I always plan beach days and invite family and friends. We will go out and boogie board or body surf. We’ll grill during the day and then at night we have a bonfire. Me and a group of friends also go to this place we call “The Cove.” It’s a top secret place that I’m not allowed to reveal.

What are your plans for fall?

Fall is actually my favorite time of year. I am thinking of going to homecoming in Wisconsin at my old school. I’m trying to get my friends to go to Wisconsin with me because it’s so pretty there and they have a ton of haunted corn mazes and houses. But I will definitely be at Halloween Horror Nights here in LA. I will also be starting my last year of high school and taking some college courses. I can’t believe that I’m a senior, time flies by so fast. Other than that, auditioning and writing. Just trying to keep myself busy.

The Most Stylist Halloween Costumes for 2016

Holidays are a wonderful reason to show your stylish side and dress up.  Halloween is no exception to this. For some, Halloween is a time to dress up in the scariest costume imaginable, for others it’s about being the most seductive character you can play and for many its about being stylish and being someone new for a night. If you’re one of the people who want to be as stylish as possible for Halloween, this list of the most fashion forward costumes for ladies was created for you!

Dressing up doesn’t just mean you get to play a new part, it means you get to embrace a side of you that you never knew existed. We really like this Female Gangster Tease costume from 3Wishes.com because it will instantly makes you feel strong, sexy, tough and confident, plus the pantsuit is ultra fashionable.

BS1013_a__28059.1401900026.800.800

Long dresses are great for Halloween costumes because you can dress up as someone else and still be your elegant, feminine and seductive self without too much effort. Some costumes can even be worn as a dress after Halloween to other events and occasions. This Toon Wife costume can even be worn after Halloween with a denim jacket or black blazer as a head turning Christmas party dress.UY1019_a_2__02981.1408918827.800.800

If elegant and mythical is more your style, you’ll want to think about being a mermaid. There has always been something sultry about mermaids and sea creatures, even in books and stories such as The Odyssey with the Sirens, which dates back to approximately 750 B.C. Let us be honest, Ariel’s seashell top in The Little Mermaid was not only creative but stylish too.R4530_a__53580.1439734159.400.600R4578-Coral-Reef-Mermaid-Costume-a__69552.1470252839.400.600BR11_a__34309.1412363977.400.600

Finally, the most stylist of costumes will have to be angels and fairies. From movies, to books, to bedtime stories, angels and fairies have always been the most stylish and beautiful characters in the story.  One of the most stylish fairies we remember was the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio. While she may not have had a many scenes, her blue aura of beauty and blue light will never be forgotten.

Mckenzie Olsen Hollywood Super Mom

Good Afternoon,

You looked amazing today, tell me your favorite part of the day?

Thank you!!  I love the whole process of getting out of my daily business attire, going into hair and make-up and being styled in couture gowns.  It’s like being a Princess for the day.

It feels nice to be pampered and made to feel glamourous… Such a complete 180 from my daily routine of driving kids, attending sports, games, practices, business meetings, taking care of 3 dogs, hitting the gym, and running a busy household!

You shoot with Jessica Simpsons Dad Joe today, how long have you been shooting with Joe?

Joe and I have been friends for many years and lived very close to each other when all the kids were little – we actually used to run into each other at our favorite market almost on the daily!

We have become much closer friends since we’ve both become heavily interested and involved in Fashion.  We found ourselves attending many of the same shows over the last couple of years, which has evolved into a great friendship and mutual admiration for each other.  It seems we have basically been living parallel lives – both with kids who lead the world in celebrity branding and who are extremely hard working and have uber successful clothing lines.  We’ve both been integral parts of raising these iconic children who have changed the face of Fashion and continue to set new precedents through out the world!

Joe is a – one of a kind – genius behind the lens.  I would choose him to shoot me over anyone else in the business. His photography truly is art, and is unequaled. He is Andy Warhol 2K and is currently planning a showing of his pop art and photographs.  Stay tuned for more info on that!

Tell me about your daily fashion?

My daily fashion can be anything from business chic to sweats and a t-shirt.  I prefer to stick to the basics. My “go to” look is a black Chanel jacket/blazer with a white tailored Ralph Lauren blouse and black Chanel pencil skirt with ultra high heeled black Louboutin pumps.  Anyone who knows me will tell you, the ONLY time you’ll see me without heels is at the gym!!

My work-out gear is always Lululemon tights with a t-back Lulu bra top and Nike cross trainers.  Lulu designs are cut to perfection. They are wildy energizing and make you hit it harder!

What LA Fashion Week shows did you attend this year? What did you wear on the red carpet?

The absolute highlight of the year thus far, was the Tom Ford show in February.  It was insane!!  LA is finally getting the top designers back and by doing so will regain it’s credibility and continue to evolve as one of the world’s Fashion Capitols.  With the help of RUNWAY Magazine and RUNWAY TV…. it’s a win, win situation!!

My favorite show during LA Fashion Week was without doubt, Walter Mendez.  He is a true visionary and his shows never disappoint. I also attended Koko Blaq, House of Ccuoco, Adolfo, Fernando and Willfredo.  This year, sadly was a bit fractured, with Style Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, and Art Hearts Fashion week all happening simultaneously at different venues.  I am praying for the day when everyone is re-united and show under the same tent!!  That will be a dream come true and something I would gladly help facilitate!!

This year on The Red Carpet, I exclusively wore couture designs by Lisseth Corrao, an incredible Peruvian/Italian Designer.  Her designs are ethereal – almost other worldly, exquisite and elegant… with just the right amount of sensuality thrown in there!  She designs with a true femininity and an ability to make one look and feel like a goddess!!  These are all her designs I am honored to be wearing in this issue of RUNWAY!

I hear you are teaming up with some designers on some exciting projects, what’s the scoop?

Yes, I am excited to say that I am teaming up with Lisseth, and we are forming a partnership.  We share the same vision and want to create an affordable couture line to share with the world!  Designs which can be worn on a Red Carpet but also to any significant event that happens in the lives of every day people… i.e. weddings, Bar Mitzvah’s, baptisms, confirmations, and celebrations of all types. Bringing a line of affordable elegance to any occasion.

Studies have shown that when you look good, you feel good!  We want to help all women share their inner light with the world.  Every woman should have the opportunity to feel as though she is walking a RUNWAY!!

What’s your day like as a Hollywood super mom?

Hollywood super mom sounds extremely flattering, Thank You!!  Most days are far less glamourous than one might think!

I usually hit the ground running… I wake up early and get the kids breakfast and out the door to school.  I generally have back-to-back meetings, errands, and try to squeeze in gym time before pick-up.  Now that the 4 older children have very busy careers of their own, there are only 2 left at home.

Courtney (Scarlett) is a Senior in High School and has her heart set on TV Production and Broadcasting.  Jake, the youngest of 6, is a Junior in High School and has started a very promising modeling career.  Both would potentially like to try their hand at acting when the timing is right. Both have done musical theatre through out middle school and High School.  Between meetings I spend lots of time driving them to castings and auditions.  At this point there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day, but there is a ton of quality time together when you are stuck in LA traffic! (I have often wished I could clone myself…)

What advice do you have for parents trying to get their kids in show business?

My advice to parents trying to get their kids into show business is, above all else, keep them grounded!  Be there for them and with them every step of the way.  Encourage them to follow their dreams without ever losing sight of what is most important, family.

They need an advocate at all times and must constantly feel loved and supported.  Always be their safety net when the disappointments come…. and they will.  Show business can be tough on a young impresionable child with a tender heart.  Always let them know you believe in them and what is meant to be will be!

I would also strongly suggest they be enrolled in classes early on to see if they genuinely have the drive and determination it takes to endure.

Thank you RUNWAY for giving me the forum to announce this exciting new Olsen venture…. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you and I look forward to our next endeavor! STAY TUNED for the launch of “Olsen Corrao Couture.”

Thanks for coming out and we look forward to More Olsen action in up coming issues of RUNWAY.

The world’s hottest luxury real estate market is?

When one thinks of the top cities for luxury real estate, places such as London, New York and Monaco come to mind. But now add Auckland to that list.

Auckland, Your No. 1 Luxury-Home Hot Spot

The largest city in New Zealand is the hottest luxury real estate market in the world, according to a new report from Christie’s International Real Estate, posting a 63% growth rate in million-dollar listings over the past year, thanks largely to the booming Pacific Rim economy.

Auckland has a lot going for it. With a mild climate and easy access to beaches and mountains, the city of 1.4 million people is consistently ranked high in surveys of the most liveable places in the world.

New Zealand’s strong economy, a deluge of foreign investment and a lack of capital gains taxes have made the picturesque harbor city a haven for luxury buyers seeking a second home, as well as Kiwi expats returning home, Christie’s said. And compared to luxury real estate elsewhere, Auckland is a bargain, with the Wall Street Journal noting that a three-bedroom, solar-powered house with views costs about the same as a newly built loft apartment in San Francisco — at about one third of the price per square foot. But properties are going fast — the average million-dollar listing sells in about 45 days.

For the wealthy, property can be a safe haven amid market uncertainty, slumping commodity prices and China’s economic slowdown. In an effort to restrict speculation by foreign property investors, New Zealand’s central bank last year imposed a rule that requires at least a 30% deposit for investment property loans, and pending legislation would heavily penalize investors who flip their property with two years of buying it.

$70 Million Rough Diamond

"NEW YORK, NY - MAY 03: Lesedi La Rona Diamond Still Life at Sotheby's on May 3, 2016 in New York City. (Photo by Donald Bowers/Getty Images for Sotheby's)"

The diamond industry is engaging in the century-old debate that is at the crux of modern art: What is art and how do we define it?

If the recent Sotheby’s auction of the Lesedi la Rona, a 1,109-carat rough diamond, is any indication, then collectors have definitively answered that a diamond is not art. The Lesedi la Rona is the world’s largest gem-quality diamond of the last century. However, it failed to meet its $70 million reserve when it came to auction in a standalone sale on June 29th, at the end of London’s annual week of summer art auctions. Therefore, it was retained by its owner, mining company Lucara Diamond Corp.

2016 has been a record-setting year for polished diamonds at auction, particularly the fancy-colored variety, such as the Oppenheimer Blue, which, at $57.5 million, is the most expensive jewel ever sold at auction. But bringing an unpolished stone to a public platform for sale is an unorthodox maneuver. Rough diamonds are typically sold within industry-only trade auctions to be subsequently cut and polished. Lucara President and CEO William Lamb explains, “If we did want to target those people who would buy the stone as a collectible, not to polish, but just because of its historical significance, how best would we access those people? We believed that that would be through the auction process.”

The appeal of an enormous rough diamond has classically been the potential value of the polished stones it will yield. “Buyers respond to cut stones, particularly large or colored stones, because they’re prestige purchases and vanity purchases,” explains jeweler, scientist and author ofNew York Times best-selling book Stoned, Aja Raden. “Very much like works of art, buyers are told, ‘There is only one of these in the whole wide world, and someone is going to get it. How badly do you want it?’”

Raden adds, “The Oppenheimer Blue diamond, or the Blue Moon of Josephine diamond [sold in 2015 for $48.4 million], they might as well beStarry Night, or the Mona Lisa. People don’t just buy them for the monetary value, they buy them to be the only person in the world who owns them. The same absolutely is not true of the Lesedi la Rona, because it will inevitably be cut up and polished into numerous other diamonds…if anything it’s a very ephemeral sort of treasure.”

Through bypassing the standard trade auction, Lucara hoped to appeal to a kind of collector who would view the Lesedi la Rona itself as an art object, recognizing its inherent rarity and historical import, without cutting it to sell off piecemeal.

“When you sell a rough diamond,” says Lamb, “the automatic default to value the stone is based on what the stone will produce and that was a bit of a frustration because we’re saying, ‘Ignore what the stone will produce, this is an absolute unique piece.’ If history repeats itself, there is not a soul alive who will see another 1,000-carat stone.”

In the vein of Marcel Duchamp’s iconic readymades, Lamb believes that the Lesedi la Rona could be the stone to disrupt the way the diamond industry does business, once the art world embraces it. For Lamb, theLesedi la Rona’s natural occurrence only serves to enhance its artistry.

“You could take a Picasso,” says Lamb, “and a very good artist or even a very good printer could replicate that for you. There is no manmade mechanism that will ever be able to create a stone exactly the same as theLesedi la Rona. That’s what makes it unique. We wanted to know if [the market] was willing to pay an auction premium for that. And it would appear that the market doesn’t yet understand.”

In the wake of the unfavorable results, Lamb says private individuals have shown interest in the Lesedi la Rona, and Lucara hasn’t ruled out bringing the diamond back to public auction at a future date, if they are able to sufficiently educate collectors on the rough stone’s historical magnitude.

Says Lamb, “You won’t hear me ever say that the auction failed. We didn’t get the outcome from the auction that we wanted but what we did get was access to a whole world of new potential investors. The demand from the private sector after the auction closed seems to indicate to me that there is still a market for it.”

Beach Glow Concert – Wildwood New Jersey

AFTER GLOW FROM BEACHGLOW’S SUCCESSFUL WILDWOOD MUSIC FESTIVAL

BeachGlow Music Festival 2016 rocked the Wildwood beach this past weekend with music from award-winning pop duo Nico & Vinz, Robert DeLong, Audien, Slander, Elephante, Jay Cosmic, Gazzo, Fareoh, Two Friends, Synchronice, Dane and CAWZ.  And, the sensational and invigorated 16-piece Little Kids Rock band from Philadelphia’s Franklin Learning Center (FLC) high school could not wait to return to practice this week after opening the main stage Saturday at the two-day charity event.

“Playing a full set at BeachGlow, on the same stage and the same day as chart-topping artists like Nico & Vinz, was an experience these incredible student performers will take with them the rest of their lives,” said Keith Hejna, Senior Manager of Donor Relations for the national nonprofit Little Kids Rock, which helped fund the music program at FLC through BeachGlow’s philanthropy. Hejna said the musicians and vocalists of the band were not only inspired by the opportunity to display their superb skills as part of the two-day festival, but for some, it was their first visit to the nearby Jersey shore.

“BeachGlow had great music and a very positive atmosphere, which we saw first-hand at the concert,” added Hejna. “They’re not only raising critical funds to support school music programs in financially struggling districts, they are also helping to lift the spirits of students and build stronger communities by giving kids the opportunities to unlock their inner music makers and live rich, purposeful lives.” To date, the relationship has helped start or expand music programs in 21 schools, including Franklin Learning Center.

The Little Kids Rock band joined 11 other acts – ranging from rock, pop, to alternative and electronic dance music — at what is being lauded as the best BeachGlow in every respect.

“I can say from my own experience it was spectacular,” commented Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano. “Not just one of our best concerts ever, but one of the best-run events Wildwood has had; a wonderful collaboration among BeachGlow, security, musical artists, merchants and concert attendees.” He added, “BeachGlow’s organization managed – and delivered on — every single promise to our City, and as a result I heard nothing but glowing reviews from our police and EMS, and everyone else who experienced it.  I would be more than happy to host this event again.”

Wildwood City Commissioner Anthony Leonetti, who initially was not a fan of the festival, stated afterward, “I would gladly invite the event back next year.  I attended and found it to be well set up and organized.” He noted that organizers and the city worked very well together and that contributed to a successful event.

BeachGlow’s founder and CEO, Dane Kunkel, reported that the festival went off without a hitch, and his all-volunteer team staged a safe and secure event that went according to plan.

“While safety is always our top priority, equally important was our ability to deliver on our charitable mission,” he added. “Once again we raised substantial awareness about the important role music plays in education, developing individual character and sustaining communities.” Kunkel, 21, started BeachGlow when he was 16 and is now a senior at the College of William & Mary.
