NYFW Most Extravagant Show SS2018

What was the most flashy show of New York fashion Week?
RUNWAY calls it as Ralph Lauren. Last night approximately 150 Mercedes S-class sedans and a host of SUVs left Manhattan, ferrying more than 250 guests northeast to Bedford Hills, N.Y. Each car was equipped with a special CD of soothing tunes chosen especially for the drive, which ended in a parking lot outside of a big white building. Inside were 26 of the rarest cars in the world, made between 1937 and 2015, including a 1938 Bugatti T-57SC Atlantic, a car valued at $40 million, plus waiters in tuxedos holding trays of Champagne or pigs in a blanket, and two long, low rows of  black leather banquettes that lined a runway.

Ralph Lauren had decided to hold his fashion show in his garage.

Women In The Military – Runway Magazine Achievements

RUNWAY magazine is proud to back the men and women who put their lives on the line for all of us daily.
Check out this article on this amazing lady.

Posted by: RUNWAY magazine EIC Vincent Midnight for and

by Kayla Good, United States Navy Office of Community Outreach

(WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash.) – A 2015 Mesquite High School graduate and Gilbert, Arizona native is serving with a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron that flies one of the Navy’s newest and most technologically-advanced aircraft, the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.

Airman Clarissa Mejia is an aviation ordnanceman with the “Flying Eagles” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 122, stationed in Lemoore, California. The squadron is currently training at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.

As an aviation ordnanceman, Mejia is responsible for loading bombs, bullets and missiles onto the Super Hornets.

“My job is very important and it keeps me busy,” said Mejia. “We are always on the go and learning something new.”

The F/A-18 Hornet, an all-weather aircraft, is used as an attack aircraft as well as a fighter. In its fighter mode, it is used primarily as a fighter escort and for fleet air defense; in its attack mode, it is used for force projection, interdiction and close and deep air support, according to Navy sources.

The newest model, Super Hornet, is highly capable across the full mission spectrum: air superiority, fighter escort, reconnaissance, aerial refueling, close air support, air defense suppression and day or night precision strike. Compared to the original aircraft, according to Navy officials, Super Hornet has longer range, an aerial refueling capability, increased survivability and improved carrier suitability.

“We are a training squadron so we get to help out the pilots and prepare them for the fleet,” said Mejia.

As a member of one of the Navy’s squadrons with the newest aircraft platforms, Mejia and other VFA-122 sailors are proud to be part of a warfighting team that readily defends America at all times.

Sailors’ jobs are highly varied at VFA-122, according to Navy officials. Since the squadron is the 10th largest in the world, with over 100 aircraft operating, sailors must make up and keep all parts of the squadron running smoothly — this includes everything from maintaining airframes and engines, to processing paperwork, handling weaponry, and flying the aircraft.

Serving in the Navy, Mejia is learning about being a more responsible leader, sailor and citizen through handling numerous responsibilities.

“Serving in the Navy allows me to make my family proud while upholding the pride I have for my country,” added Mejia.

Sierra McClain Runway Magazine Interview

Hello Sierra, you looked amazing on your RUNWAY magazine shoot today.

Thank you so much!! I was in love with a couple of those pieces.

What was your favorite look?

I’d have the say the red dress was my favorite look overall for sure. The clean makeup, the art in the back, white walls, paint splattered ladder. My favorite, hands down.

Tell us what your favorite things in your closet are?

My sweatshirts and sweatpants, and my favorite pair of combat boots.

Are you a shoe fan?

Somewhat! It’s funny because I have several pairs of heels in my closet, but I really only wear one pair.

What is like shooting a typical episode of Empire? What is your schedule like?

It depends on how heavy Nessa is in the episode! But if she’s in it quite a bit or has a musical number, then it’s table read, fittings, a studio session at some point, and a few shoot days! So it can get kind of busy.

What is the funniest thing to ever happen to you on set?

Ah man! There have been some good moments on set, but one of the funniest moments was probably during the very first episode of filming when I was performing “Need Freedom.” During one of the takes, Terrence came onstage and started singing backup with me, and I was doing a good job of playing along until X, (‪Xzibit), came onstage and started doing that new age running man. I couldn’t hold it, I completely broke!

What kind of music do you listen too?

R&B, Hip Hop, Urban music mostly. Old school classics as well! Babyface, D’angelo, ‪Lauryn Hill, 80’s and 90’s music. But I have a plethora of music on my playlist, that’s just what I listen to the most.

What is your favorite movie?

Love and Basketball. I love Black Loveee.

What is your favorite color?

 Any earth tone!

What are your favorite red carpet designers?

To be honest, I’m just now sort of getting into that stuff. I haven’t been super big on brand names. I literally only shop at my local mall and Target. That’ll probably change once I start looking into it little bit though!

How about some advice to aspiring talent?

Be head over heels in love and committed to your craft. Study. Practice. Don’t just work on the technical side, work on trusting yourself and your instincts and completely giving over to what it is that you want to do for the rest of your life.

Carly Hughes Runway Magazine Interview

You have an amazing voice, where did you learn to sing?
Thank you! I’ve kind of been singing since I learned to talk. Haha.  It’s a talent I’ve been blessed with, that I have learned about and strengthened over the years. I sang in choir in elementary and all the groups in high school, and took my first voice lesson in college. Then learned the most from being out in the field, if you will, on Broadway, from the numerous talents and legends I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. I’ve been lucky, working on shows that really stretched & challenged me, both creatively & vocally.

How did Broadway come into your life?
When you graduate with a B. F. A. in Musical Theatre, it’s (fingers crossed) the natural progression. I grew up watching golden age musicals on VHS tapes, thinking “how fun would it be to do that for a living!”  But not really knowing that it was attainable for me. I didn’t see my first Broadway show till my last year of high school, and was instantly like “ooohhhh, so people do do this for a living?!” Lol

Who are your favorite designers?
Christian Louboutin (need him in my life!) , Christian Siriano, Alice & Olivia, Zac Posen, Cushnie et Ochs, Kate Spade…

Any items in your closet you can’t live without?
SHOES. All my shoes. They can turn even the simplest outfit into something amazing. I like that I’m known for what shoes I wear. Makes it worth buying the ….. pairs that I have!

What is your schedule like, are you a morning or a night person?
Night person all the way! Me and mornings are occasional acquaintances… The night and I are best friends. I can’t get home and jump in the bed, I like to wind down and relax in my space.

Do you have any pets?
No. But I’m probably going to get myself a puppy for Christmas 🙂 I’ve wanted one for a while.

What do you do in your free time?
I really like to cook. Cooking is just another form of being creative. It’s fun, relaxing, and I love feeding my friends! I also LOVE movies! Going to the movies, renting on my Apple TV, watching Netflix. A couch, a good movie, and a glass of wine….

Who inspires you?
My dad, with all he’s been through, he’s still going strong with faith and love.

Do you have any advice for aspiring talent?
Know what you do, and do what you know. Don’t waste time trying to be an imitation of someone else, no matter how talented that “someone else” may be. Be confident in the fact that no one else can do what you do, that’s what makes you unique.

Alano Miller Runway Magazine Interview

How are you doing today?

I’m great!  Shooting season 2 of Underground in HOT Savannah, very excited to share soon.

Tell us about your personal style?

I’m a jeans guy.  G-Star Raw, Levi’s, casual with a bit of edge but when I’m out for an event I love to look sharp in a well-tailored blazer/suit/tux.

Who are your favorite ready to wear designers?

G-star Raw, John Varvatos, Zara, Suit Supply, J Crew.  It’s hard to name them all because I pick and choose pieces from designers who excite me.

What are your choices of fashion for the red carpet?

Like I said, I love to look sharp.  Very fitted.  Classic.  Then on some days, I want to push the envelope a bit with an outfit from Turk or Saint Laurent.  I gotta keep you guessing.  I want to wear things that have a bit of pop to them and allow me to have the best of all worlds.

What was is like coming from such a large family?

It’s interesting to say the least.  I did learn a lot about finding my individuality.  We aren’t close in age so we weren’t wearing each other’s clothes.  I had a front row seat to learning from my siblings’ success and challenges.  And from that, I learned who I wanted to be.

Tell us about your upcoming movie Loving for Focus Features?

Loving is about the landmark case Loving vs. Virginia.  In which an interracial couple got married and were banned from living in the state of Virginia.  That court ruling was one of the most important and powerful rulings in American history.  I play Raymond Green who is Richard Loving’s best friend.  It was a profound friendship, and a very unassuming one.  We don’t show this in the film, but Richard actually died in Raymond’s arms.  Loving is a beautiful and relevant film, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

What can we expect to see in season two of WGN’s Underground?

OHHH.  I don’t think anyone is ready for season 2 of Underground.  I’m so excited!!  I can only say that this season is gut punching.  It will challenge the way we’ve seen these main characters.  So many brilliant themes this year that are so relevant to the times we are in.  This season is bolder, bigger, an all-out brawl.  We’re taking it the next level!

What is the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on set?

On Jane, the Virgin my character has a death scene in which he is impaired by an ice sculpture.  I had to balance my entire body using one leg while laying on a very fragile and freezing ice sculpture.  It took everything in me to stop shaking so they could get the shot.  It was amazing once it was all done.  My leg grew three sizes that day.

What is your favorite color?

Blue.  It covers the gambit of moods.

How about your favorite food?

Lasagna.  Why did you ask me this question?  Now all I want is lasagna right now.  It’s so good and it’s also very hard to find great lasagna.  And I can’t eat any of that because I’m shooting.  WHY GOD WHY!!!

Where is your favorite place on Earth?

Wherever my wife is.  When I’m with her places seem to come to life.  Her energy and light bring out the beauty of a place.

Do you support any charities?

I’m working on it.  My wife and I are interested in supporting causes against domestic violence, better educational outlets, and mentorships for young people of color.

Do you have any advice for new actors?

Don’t be in a rush to be successful or to get it right.  Timing is everything, enjoy the process.  I constantly thought I was ready for the next level and then when I got to the next level, I was ready.  It’s funny how that works.  If you’re meant to be an actor then you’ll be an actor.  The question is are you willing to accept what that looks like in your life?  It may not be red carpets, magazine spreads, and major awards but it may be you changing so many lives on stage or in schools.  Your greatness isn’t dependent on your exposure but the effectiveness with which you sharpen the lives you touch.  We’ve been called as artist to challenge the norm, to hold up a mirror and to give voice to the voiceless.  So get to work, there’s a lot of people who need you.
