Rihanna For RIVER ISLAND Fall 2013 Collection
Rihanna AW13 Campaign
As you’ve probably heard, Rihanna’s next collection for River Island is *almost* here so we thought we’d show you the campaign images to whet your appetite.
The Campaign shot by Lachlan Bailey, styled by Mel Ottenberg, and directed by Rihanna herself, stars some of the newest crop of fashion supermodels; Ji Hye Park, Nayasha Kusakina, Milou Van Grossen and Tati Cotliar.
This 80-piece collection incorporates a mix of urban sports lux with sophisticated chic. With a strong emphasis on clean yet glamorous dressing and a nod to streamlined sportswear.
All of the pieces featured below and a whole lot more will be available as part of Rihanna’s fall winter collection, which goes on sale in selected stores and online from September 12th. Excited? We are!
A collection is not complete with a campaign shoot, and this time RiRi took to the streets with a cast of both star-studded and under-the-radar faces such as Ji Hye Park, Tati Cotliar, Milou Vam Grossen and Nayasha Kusakina. Shot by notable shutterbug Lachlan Bailey, the campaign was styled by Mel Ottenberg and although it stuck close to Rihanna’s fierce and bold style, it was more modern and had a lighter, more on-the-go atmosphere than the previous collection where models lounged around with dark purple backgrounds in the back. “We’re giving it a New York street vibe.” said Rihanna on her influence. ”I literally designed everything I want to wear—exactly how I want to wear it.“

Buzzing Beauty Trend: Bee Venom
Bee venom has been named by JWT Global Trend Analysts as the “number one beauty trend of 2013,” and is used by celebrities like Kate Middleton and Victoria Beckham to obtain flawless skin. The Purified Bee Venom used by Manuka Doctor is raw bee venom that has been purified in a sustainable and bee-friendly way. All impurities are removed, which creates more potent venom. Manuka Doctor describes their products as, “naturally inspired, scientifically enhanced,” which means that they use scientific research to better the preexisting qualities of natural ingredients.
Manuka Doctor products are divided into three primary lines: ApiNourish, ApiClear, and ApiRevive. Each product is created to serve a specific skin problem, whether it be dry skin, blemishes, or excess oil. ApiNourish, claims to protect and moisturize the skin by relying on the skin regenerating qualities of bee venom and the moisturizing qualities of Manuka honey. ApiClear relies on the antibacterial properties of Purified Bee Venom, and is geared toward those looking for a solution to acne. Lastly, ApiRevive is used to restore skin with its natural ingredients. Italian company Skin Co Roma Mixes Nature with Beauty
The history of Skin & Co Roma dates all the way back to 1911, when Sabatino and Giuseppina Balestra began producing and selling hygiene products, oils and more in Umbria, a region in central Italy located between Rome and Florence. The Balestra family sought to supply their customers with products delivered straight from their farm with the philosophy to “provide the freshest products, while preserving their lands.” Three generations later, Skin & Co Roma maintains this same philosophy. Gabriel Balestra, Skin & Co Roma’s Executive Director and great grandson of founders Sabatino and Giuseppina Balestra, notes that Skin & Co has been “a family owned and managed business for the past over 100 years,” and asserts that the company’s philosophy has not strayed from its original state. “All our products and all of our extracts come from nature, so we sort of have to give back,” he says.
Skin & Co claims to use nothing in their products that could harm the environment, leaving parabens and sulfates out. The same recipes that were created decades ago form the basis for Skin & Co products today.
“The majority of our ingredients are all-natural or from organic origins,” says Balestra.
Skin & Co Roma sells products that cater to the face, body and hair including moisturizers, toners, cleansers, and travel products. The company’s two main product lines are Sicilian orange and truffle, the company’s signature ingredient.
“The truffle is our anti-aging line and our more expensive product just because of the rare extracts it contains,” says Balestra.
Other products include ingredients like rosemary, lavender, olive oil and honey. And despite Skin & Co Roma’s growing international following, most of these ingredients are still grown in the Mediterranean area.
Today, Skin & Co Roma products are distributed in three continents. They are available via The Shopping Channel, Dermstore.com, and Henri Bendel in New York, as well as direct from the Skin & Co Roma website.
