Denise has worked with many of the fashion industries top clients including Vogue Italy, Macys, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Lane Bryant, Forever 21, and is now starring on nuvoTV’s hit show “Curvy Girls,” which provides an all-access pass inside the glamorous world of professional modeling. “Curvy Girls” which is currently shooting its second season, shines the spotlight on four full-figured beauties, who won’t let anything get in the way of their success. In addition, this half Puerto Rican, half Kuwaiti beauty can be seen on HBO Latino’s highly acclaimed show “Habla” which features different Hispanic voices in the U.S and will debut April 18th.

We were fortunate enough to sit down with this star on the rise to discuss “Curvy Girls,” fashion, and the importance of empowering women.

We love your show “Curvy Girls”!! Without giving too much away, what can fans look forward to next season?

Thank you so much for the support of Curvy Girls! It’s been so much fun to be part of the show and receiving such a fantastic response from fans has truly been a humbling experience.

This season is going to be full of exciting things for me and the girls. I, for one, will be branching out and trying something career wise, that I never thought was possible. Also, there will be a huge development in my personal life and viewers will get to share in my journey. I can’t wait to talk about everything, but I can’t say too much. Since we are shooting there will still be a lot more to come.

“Curvy Girls” highlights a different side of the modeling world and encourages women to embrace their bodies no matter what shape or size. How important do you think it is for women to be happy and comfortable with their body type?

I think Curvy Girls is such a wonderful show and I’m so proud to be a part of it. Showing women that beauty comes in different shapes, sizes, ethnicities and ages is a huge deal! Being comfortable in your own skin is the key to happiness and the average American woman is a size 14. But it isn’t until now that we are getting representation in the media and I think it’s a wonderful thing to have leading ladies that depict powerful women being happy in their skin.

Let’s talk fashion! How would you describe your personal style?

I like to think my style is a little bit rock and roll with a touch of sophistication. I love mixing trendy pieces with basics and I am a sucker for amazing jeans with super high heels. Most of all, I like to feel comfortable and have a great time.

With spring right around the corner, what are some of your ‘must-have’ items for the upcoming season?

High waisted flare denim pants are a must have for spring, especially for the curvy woman. There is something about the 70’s fashion that I’m very into these days. A great fitting pair of high waisted jeans with a crop shirt or tucked in button down is perfection.

I am also obsessed with circle frames and recently purchased the most amazing pair of Prada sunglasses that I will be rocking from now until forever lol. I strongly suggest trying on different ones and finding the pair that suits your face shape the best, since it can be tricky to find the perfect fit.

Having already worked with Vogue.it, Marcy’s, Nordstrom, Forever21, Old Navy, to name a few, are there any other designers or brands you are dying to collaborate with?

I would love to work for Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, Latina Magazine and many more, but more than anything my dream is to book a hair and/or makeup campaign. Curvy girls can sell beauty products too 🙂 Starring in a feature film would be a dream come true for me too, so I’m working hard towards making that happen.
