‘Stuck in a nightmare’: Heartbroken family mourns the loss of 8-year-old accidentally shot and killed

DEER PARK, Wash. — Days after he was accidentally shot and killed inside his grandmother’s home, 8-year-old Atillio “Tilly” Stanley’s family said it feels as if they’re living a nightmare they can’t wake up from.

“I think right now it’s almost still hard to believe, still seems like we’re stuck in a nightmare,” Mary Molyneaux said. “Little by little other things come up and it hits you in the face, that this is real.”

Mary Molyneaux is dating Tilly’s father, Jayson Stanley – she has been part of Tilly’s day-to-day life, up to the minute he died. Real life is still a blur for Molyneaux and Stanley, as they look through photos of the little boy.

“He was a sweet, sweet boy. He had such a sweet little voice, he was affectionate,” Molyneaux said.

Molyneaux said Tilly loved to play with his toys, especially Legos; the floor of his bedroom, full of them. An ordinary room for an 8-year-old, now empty.

Tilly was shot and killed on Sept. 28, when his siblings found their dad’s handgun in his dresser and started playing with it, while Stanley and Molyneaux were out of the house. The children’s grandmother was home at the time. At some point, the gun went off and struck Tilly.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, police and medical personnel responded to the home around 9:35 p.m., but Tilly was pronounced dead at the scene.

When Molyneaux and Stanley returned home, they walked into the nightmare they’re still living.

“We come running in and we find Tilly. It was shocking,” Molyneaux said. “It’s almost like now, when I look back on it, I really don’t remember too much. I think my brain blocked some things out. It’s hard to believe not even an hour before that we were all together laughing. Things can change so fast.”

In a second, life as they knew it was uprooted. Molyneaux said the gun wasn’t locked up in a safe because the family had just moved into the grandmother’s home. Yet, she said Tilly’s death could have been avoided.

Tilly leaves behind his two older brothers, an older sister, and his younger sister – whom Molyneaux said the young boy was closest to.

“We just informed his little sister today, we didn’t go into detail, but she didn’t know that he was gone,” she said.

Molyneaux said the kids all loved each other so much and were always playing outside, making friends with the neighborhood kids. Riding scooters, bikes – laughing without a care in the world.

Now, their family is short one bright, and very young life, as they plan for Tilly’s funeral. Each one of them left remembering the little things they can’t get back but will always hold onto.

“That’s all I can say is that he was a sweet, innocent boy who did not deserve any of this,” Molyneaux said.

Tell us about your personal style.

My style is laid back, casual and sporty. I wear a lot

of solid colors, mostly muted earth tones and relaxed

fits. Usually I’ll add a statement piece to round out

the look.

You have been on some amazing shows,

tell us about your part in Star Trek: Strange

New Worlds?

I played the role of Lieutenant Dever who was an

Operations Division Officer on the USS Skylark. He

and Christine Chapel from the USS Enterprise were

casually dating, and he unsuccessfully tried to move

the relationship forward.

What was your experience like working on

The Umbrella Academy?

The Umbrella Academy was one of my favorite gigs

so far. The cast and crew were super helpful and

welcoming.

It wasn’t a large role, but it was my first fight scene in

a TV show, so I got to train with some very talented

stunt choreographers. If I remember correctly, we

shot the fight scene for almost 15 hours and by the

end I was so sore I could barely move my neck…but

the final cut was epic!

Who has influenced you as an actor?

My first influence was Macaulay Culkin. Watching

him in the Home Alone movies as a child was what

made me want to get into acting. James Marsden

is another actor who I’ve always looked up to. His

longevity in the business and his range of skills are

things I’ve always admired.

How would you describe your character

Parker on Netflix’s new series Glamorous?

Parker is a confident, gay jock who works in finance.

He and Marco have a random encounter that sets in

motion a fun little game of cat and mouse.

What do you hope viewers take away from

watching the show?

I hope that everyone can see themselves represented

in the show, no matter how they identify or how they

look.

What do you wear to go to set?

Anything comfortable! Mostly activewear like

Lululemon, Adidas, or Nike.

How long do you have to stay in costume on

average when you’re working on a show?

Depending on the day and how many scenes I was

filming, it was anywhere from 4 hours to 15 hours.

The average would be about 10 hours.

Tell us about your favorite music.

I listen to a lot of different music. The genres I listen

to the most are folk rock and pop. My family only

listened to country music growing up in small town

Ontario, so it holds a special place in my heart as

well.

Where is your favorite place to dine?

Comal y Canela in Toronto! It’s a tiny Mexican

restaurant with the most delicious food. The birria

tacos are probably the best thing I’ve ever had.

Do you have pets?

Unfortunately no! My allergies prevent me from

owning one. Though, when I am around pets, I can’t

resist holding and petting them.

What could you not live without in your

closet?

My Ted Baker suit! It’s sharp- classic but modern, and

it has saved me on many last minute occasions.

Where do you go to relax?

Anywhere near water! Wherever I am in the world,

being by the water will always bring me peace.

When I know I have longer periods of downtime, I

also like to spend time with my family and friends out

of town.

What is a fun fact about you that people

may not know?

I have a twin brother!

What do you wear around the house?

Most of the time, I wear a pair of CK boxer briefs, a

tank top, and long socks. If it’s cold, I’ll throw on a

sweater.

Do you work with any charities?

I’m not currently working with any charities, but I

have done some mentoring for young people with

disabilities in the past.

Tell us about your personal Style.

I have a bunch of different styles. There is one that is like a

workout clothes girl. No makeup. Love a good Alo Yoga,

Fabletics, and cute fit you can wear out and be chill and also

workout. Then ,there is the fashionista girl who is very like on

stage with glitter, badass, diva, just so fun on stage. There is

also the cool girl swag, which is my normal chill vibe. I love

sweatpants and making it sexy with some good Nike sneakers.

Just swaggy cool girl vibes, which is normally my usual fit. I also

love being chic. Just a cute chic dress and classy.

You are an actress, songwriter, dancer, model, and

rising pop recording artist what is your favorite?

All of it, honestly. I love all creative processes. I would say music

is my main passion just because it is my life. However, I really

love and enjoy doing all of it. I can’t really say just one.

When did you learn to act?

I didn’t really learn. I was on Broadway at six years old. I think

my learning was being in rehearsals and learning the script,

learning lines, etc. I never really learned how to act, I just did it.

When I got older, being in acting intensives and classes helped

too. I think the most important tool is being authentic in whatever

character you’re playing.

Who would you love to work with?

A lot of people. There are a lot of producers I want to work with

and a lot of artists. Some include, Drake, Lizzo, Lil Nas X, and

Max Martin for sure.

Tell us about your diet.

It’s primarily healthy. I love to be gluten and dairy free when I

can. But the Italian in me is just like “I love cheese.” but I eat

really healthy. You know, I think having a healthy lifestyle is

so important. Working out, eating healthy, and drinking your

water. But if I’m craving something, I will definitely eat it. I

believe you can do all things in moderation, but to be honest,

if I’m getting ready for a tour or video shoot, I’m pretty strict.

I really like to feel and look my best when I’m doing specific

things, but when I’m traveling it is definitely harder.

Do you have pets?

I have a Pomeranian named Koko.

Tell us about your favorite shoes.

The first thing that came into my mind which is so bizarre is

Steve Madden. I love Steve Madden. I really would love to do

a collaboration with them someday. I also love Michael Kors

and Nike. I love Nike sneakers. And if you want to get bougee,

I have these Christian Dior boots that I wear with pretty much

everything lately. They go with everything – Dresses, skirts,

denim, they almost look like Converse. They are so swaggy and

cool and go with my whole aesthetic. I’m obsessed with them.

Tell us about your daily life.

Every day is different. And on the fly, it’s like “Yeah, I’m going

to work out be more chill, get some things done’ and all of a

sudden it blows up in my face and I’m so busy and don’t know

what I did an hour ago. Usually, I get up, workout, conquer my

to-do list of things I have to do, work on social media editing, go

through my content of things I need to post, take TikTok’s, always

working on music, dance studio sometimes, and rehearsals.

There is always so much going on.

Where did you study music?

I didn’t actually study music. Until recently, when I’ve been

delving more into production, I did some with Berklee College

of Music, which was really cool. But to be honest, I have an

ear for music, so when it comes to production I can kind of

play sounds by ear and play keyboard by ear. I can hear when

things are on key. I hear production in my head, so as I’m

creating music, I have also been creating for other artists in

the studio. I’m really good at vocal producing and hearing

production someone wouldn’t hear and be like “Can you play it

like this.” I just have an ear for music and I think that is a natural

gift in itself, so I didn’t really study it.

Do you work with any charities?

Yes. I love a lot of different charities and there are so many

I want to work with. I’ve worked with the Starlight Children’s

Foundation, Girl Up, just a bunch. Trevor Project. There are a

lot of charitable organizations that I want to get more involved

with.

Tell us about your modeling career:

I more or less started when I was 13 still living in Texas but

didn’t get serious work till, I moved to NY when I was 18. I

freelanced mostly while in college and then signed with my first

big agency in 2019. But my career really didn’t kick off until

I signed with Ford Models early 2022. Less than a year after

signing with them I got Sports Illustrated 🙂

Tell us about your personal style.

-My style is honestly something I’ve honestly recently started to

figure out because for the longest time I was mostly just following

the trends. I think I would describe it almost as a mix of cottage

core and Parisian chic if that makes sense. I love girly, frilly

dresses and skirts but I also like simple basics. My go to uniform

is a black mini skirt, knee high boots (sometimes cowboy) and

a baby tee.

What are your favorite designers?

-Not big on designer brands but right now I’m loving House of

CB and Anthropologie

What kind of music do you like to pose to?

Upbeat, fun, dance music mostly! My go to on set is usually

ABBA

Tell us about your family.

My entire family is from Belgium but we moved to the states

when I was 3. I have two older brothers, who are still in our

hometown in Texas, and a younger sister in LA. My parents are

divorced so my dad still lives in Texas with my stepmom and my

mom lives in Florida.

Do you have any pets?

I do! An orange cat named Levi 🙂

Tell us about your shoes.

Love boots more than anything, especially cowboy boots. I am

not big on heels so I’m usually either wearing boots or sneakers!

What do you do to relax?

Honestly for me my favorite way to relax is through quality time

with my friends. Going out and having a drink on a patio or

going dancing is a great way to unwind

What is your normal day like?

I don’t really have one, every day tends to be pretty different

because of the nature of my career. But if I had to say I Usually

like to squeeze in a walk or gym session in the mornings, film

content in the afternoon if I’m not on set, and then end the day

with dinner with a friend or a date

Do you have any advice for new models?

If you want it bad enough, it’s not a question of IF, but rather

a question of WHEN. My sister and I have lived by that motto

since we were teenagers and it keeps us going. Also, don’t let

the industry change you or beat you down. Your worth is not

defined by your size or appearance so don’t let anyone make

you feel like it is.

What is coming up next for you?

I have no idea honestly. Right now, I am just open to whatever

the universe wants to bring me!
