The S/S 2013 collection by Versace screams warrior goddess with a big splash of feminine chic. The Medusa-head motif that accents almost every piece emphasizes the hypnotic power of a woman’s look, which is what we feel the whole collection is really about. Donatella has been wowing us more and more every year, but this season her influence can definitely be felt reverberating onto other designers. Although there have been several attempts by major labels to popularize the Gladiator sandal-boot in recent years (Chanel Cruise 2007, S/S 2011), the trend didn’t really catch on until it hit the catwalk last fall. The strapping, or criss-crossing of material up the calf carries an air of Amazon babe just perfect for summer soirees.
