Published July 5, 2011

Straight from the Jersey Shore to the Hollywood Hills, the boys of Action Item are making waves all over the country! With their refreshing new music including their recent single “When Everything Falls Back Down” featuring Chelsea Kane, these fab five are moving on up to the top. Whether they’re performing on stage alongside Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, making noise on Radio Disney, or touring throughout the US and Canada, “The Stronger the Love” singers are giving us all something to love!

We sat down with this rising young band to talk about upcoming projects, evolving fashion and their fall favorites.

Tell us how you got the name “ACTION ITEM”?

We were watching a movie together and the term “Action Item” came up. We loved it as a name and found out that it meant “a goal to achieve/something to accomplish.” It felt very right for us to have a band name with an uplifting and positive message like that.

You are currently on tour with Honor Society. What else do you have in the works?

We are heading out on another tour right after this. It’s the “Friday is Forever Tour” with We The Kings, The Summer Set, Hot Chelle Rae, and The Downtown Fiction. It’s going to be a great show for everyone! Also we have a new single (with our first music video) coming out in mid-July. The song is called “Learn To Fly” and it was produced by Nick Jonas.

What would you say is the overall style of the band? Are there go-to brands that you all enjoy?

We love shopping at little boutiques on Melrose whenever we have time in LA. There are so many great and unique shops to really craft your style there. London fashion is great too, so occasionally we head over to TopMan in NYC to pick up some new clothes.

How has your style evolved over time?

We’ve learned that simplicity can be wonderful. You don’t need to have layers upon layers to have a great style. We’ve been keeping it simple with different cut t-shirts and just accessorizing, whether it be some necklaces and/or bracelets. Accessories really do make more of a statement than you think. Above all, being confident is really important. As long as you’re confident and adventurous in your own clothes, other people will see that.

What trends do you think will be popular this fall?

In our opinion, people always overlook gloves and mittens. We’re from the NYC area, and even with all the people constantly roaming, it’s rare to see someone with stylish gloves. I think it’s time for a mitten revolution.

How does music come together with fashion?

Fashion can really accentuate the type of music someone listens to. We know it’s not great to judge a book by it’s cover, but you can usually pick out the people who love Rock music in comparison to those who prefer Jazz. It’s wonderful how fashion can really underline what somebody is all about.
