Christian Audigier: Hollywood’s Lifestyle Designer Redefining Runway Culture

Christian Audigier has long been known as one of Hollywood’s most recognizable lifestyle designers, building a brand identity that blends celebrity culture, streetwear energy, and runway spectacle. His designs—often bold, colorful, and rooted in self-expression—have been embraced by entertainers, musicians, and global influencers who connect with his “lifestyle-first” approach to fashion.

Beyond clothing, Audigier’s work represents an entire cultural aesthetic. His runway shows are not traditional presentations but immersive experiences, combining music, choreography, and performance to create a high-energy environment that feels closer to a live show than a conventional fashion event. This fusion of entertainment and design has become a signature part of his brand identity.

During an exclusive conversation following his Spring 2009 Los Angeles runway show, Audigier offered insight into his creative philosophy, inspirations, and vision for the future. The interview also took place in his distinctive LA office—an unconventional creative space filled with life-sized superhero statues and eclectic design elements that reflect his bold artistic personality.

The Exclusive Interview (Q&A)

What do you like best about your brand?
The lifestyle and the use of the clothes are most important. It is the United we stand approach and its race free.

What are your thoughts on our new president?
Obama will be a great president. It is his energy and his do it together approach.

We loved your last runway show in LA—what gave you the idea to add dogs to the runway?
It was a way to create a new approach. Dogs are part of the lifestyle—clothes for pets and leashes to fit individual style.

Who is your favorite couture designer?
Ralph Lauren. He mixed country with the city in his design. When it comes to Hollywood style, he is the biggest.

Who is your favorite ready-to-wear designer?
Ed Hardy, of course.

What are your influences?
Rock and roll, movies, the movement of people in the street.

Where did you learn to design?
I am blessed. I was a sales person and I learned textiles and the fit of product on color.

What do you do for fun?
I play with my kids and I ride motorbikes.

What is your vision for your brand?
This is the tip of the iceberg. I want to create a worldwide name by making a statement.

Who is the first famous person you remember during your life?
Elvis Presley was first. I saw his movies before I heard his songs.

What celebrity would make the best president?
Sharon Stone. She has a perfect sense of maturity—it’s the way she presents herself.

What is your favorite movie?
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. I liked the style more than the fashion.

What designer has had the biggest impact on today’s retail world?
Ralph Lauren. He is always perfect.

What advice would you give new designers?
Do it in an easier way. Do it with passion. It’s about dreams and style.

What are your favorite places?
LA is where I put my headquarters. I also love Malibu.

Who is your favorite New York designer?
Michael Kors
