Unnamed Sources Policy – RUNWAY® MAGAZINE

Published November 11, 2025 RUNWAY TV LLC – Hollywood, California

At RUNWAY® MAGAZINE, we prioritize transparency and credibility. Founded in 1989 by Vincent Midnight and led by Editor-in-Chief Julia Perry, we adhere to strict journalistic standards across hourly updates, live fashion-week coverage, and AI-enhanced reporting.

Use of Unnamed Sources

Unnamed sources are used only when absolutely necessary and never as the sole basis for a story. They must meet these criteria:

  1. Essential Information The information cannot be obtained on the record, and it serves the public interest (e.g., exposing industry misconduct or exclusive insights).
  2. Corroboration Every claim from an unnamed source is independently verified by at least two additional sources or documented evidence.
  3. Senior Approval Use of unnamed sources requires explicit approval from the Editor-in-Chief.
  4. Reader Transparency When published, we clearly state:
    • Why the source must remain anonymous (e.g., fear of professional retaliation).
    • The source’s proximity to the information (e.g., “a senior executive at a major fashion house”).
    • What steps were taken to corroborate the information.

Prohibited Practices

  • Single-source unnamed claims are never published.
  • Speculation or gossip from unnamed sources is rejected outright.
  • Payment or favors for anonymity are strictly forbidden.

Accountability

All decisions on unnamed sources are logged internally and available for review during corrections or inquiries. Readers may request clarification at [email protected].

We believe anonymity should protect whistleblowers—not shield unverified claims. This policy ensures RUNWAY® MAGAZINE remains a trusted voice in global fashion journalism.
